UNSW Rugby Club Established 1949.

UNSWRUFC is a club steeped in tradition and a senior member of Sydney’s largest rugby union competition, the NSW Suburban Rugby Competition. Established in 1949, it is the only UNSW sporting club to run every year since the University’s formation. Throughout our history, we have won 26 premierships throughout all of our grades and collected 3 coveted club championships. The club boasts many former representatives, the most notable being Simon Poidevin, who represented Australia whist playing for UNSWRUFC. Players train Tuesday & Thursday night from 645pm @ Dave Phillips Oval, Daveyville. The current committee extends an invitation to those who wish to participate in the administration of the Club to become members of the committee by nominating for the following positions.

Positions available:
- Patron
- President
- Vice President
- Hon.Secretary
- Hon.Treasurer
- Club Captain
- Committee (max 7)

Please note the newly elected committee will meet at the conclusion of the AGM.

The club would like to congratulate 5 players for their selection in the NSW Suburban Rugby Union colts and grade teams for the upcoming Australian Rugby Shield, kicking off next week.

Congrats to Ned & Liam being selected in the colts squad, with assistant coach Oliver Mahoney with Griff, Harry & Angus in the grade squad.

UNSW Rugby Club is delighted to announce the appointment of John Wickenden as our new Women’s Head Coach for the 2027 season!

John arrives at the club following a two-year stint at the Penrith Emus, where he lead the club’s resurgence as Head Coach all the way to silverware.

He joins a women’s program that continues to build, with a 30-player squad and back-to-back finals appearances in seasons 2025 & 2026.
