If you’ve spent any time around NSW Rugby Referees, you’ve probably crossed paths with Mervyn Iles, and walked away a little wiser.

A Match Official Developer with decades of experience, Merv’s been shaping referees since 1990, from Parramatta to Vancouver and everywhere in between.

He’s the kind of member who quietly lifts everyone around him - mentoring, guiding, and reminding us what the spirit of rugby really looks like.

In 2024, he added Australian Schools to his long list of achievements, another nod to a career built on dedication and genuine love for the game.

Here’s to Merv, proof that experience, humility, and passion never go out of style.

A few weeks on from our great presentation night, and a huge congratulations to our major award winners, as presented on the night!

Extremely well deserved recipients, all of whom have worked hard over many seasons, and it’s fantastic to be able to recognise their contributions to our association, our community, and our sport.

Well done all!
