Zone 2 cardio is the foundation of aerobic fitness. It’s not flashy, it’s not sexy — but without it, you’ll never reach your full potential in the higher zones (like Zone 4 or 5).

Why? Because Zone 2 builds your base. That means improving your heart’s ability to pump blood, increasing mitochondrial density in your muscles, and training your body to use fuel efficiently. When your aerobic system is solid, you recover faster between efforts, hold paces longer, and perform harder for longer without redlining.

— no matter how hard you push in the high-intensity stuff if your base is small , you’ll gas out quicker and hit plateaus sooner. Your performance depends on your ability to sustain effort, not just survive it — and that starts with your Zone 2 work.

Are you booked in for GPP tomorrow ? Our program offers aerobic sessions daily - come try us out !

We get it ,staying motivated isn’t easy. Life gets hectic, the weather turns awful, and hitting the snooze button feels easier than hitting the gym (literally). But every time you skip a session or drift from your own personalised plan, progress slows.

We’re not here to guilt you — we’re here to remind you that showing up matters, especially when it’s hard , especially when your program calls for it based on your goals.

You don’t need to train every single day — you just need to stay consistent with your goals - YOUR GOALS !

THE BUILD !

Photos from NYF GYM's post 27/05/2025

2017 – The Beginning
In 2017, I opened NYFGYM at 447 Oxford Street. It was a humble start—no frills, just a deep commitment to hard work and proving people wrong. I wore every hat: coach, cleaner, marketer. The fitness landscape was different then

2018 – Laying the Foundation
We began to gain traction. A small but dedicated community started to form, and together, we established the core values that still define us: grit, consistency, and humility.

2019 – Breaking Through
After two years of relentless effort, we started to see the fruits of our labor. Members were achieving their goals, and I officially became a business owner ( in the money ) NYFGYM was no longer just a vision—it was a reality.

2020 – Growth Amidst Challenges
The onset of COVID-19 brought unforeseen challenges. We opened a new location at 398 Oxford Street, navigating lockdowns and restrictions.

2021 – Resilience in Adversity
Another tough year, but we persevered. The hardships only strengthened our resolve.

2022 – A Bold Move Forward
We relocated to 290 Victoria Street, our most significant move yet, tripling our space from 150 squares to close to 400. This expansion allowed us to introduce the Conjugate Program, elevating our performance training and offering more to our members

2023 – Facing New Realities
This year was one of the most challenging since our inception. The world had changed, and so had the fitness industry. Yet, our brand held strong. The Conjugate and Concurrent systems we implemented began to show their true potential

2024 – Building Momentum
Stability returned, and our members started to shine. The programs matured, and the community thrived. We saw consistent progress, not just in physical achievements but in the strength of our community bonds.

Just a reminder — soreness doesn’t equal results.

DOMS (that post-session soreness) can happen when you train hard, especially with new or eccentric movements — but it doesn’t mean the session was effective ( read that again )

Results come from following a program, being consistent, progressing week to week, and recovering properly from stress — through sleep, nutrition, and managing overall stress.

Yeah, getting sore might be part of that process at times. But if you’re constantly chasing soreness, you’re missing the point.

You can be sore and make no progress.
You can not be sore and still get stronger, leaner, and fitter.

Progress is about training smart, sticking to the plan, and giving your body what it needs to adapt — not just smashing yourself for the sake of it.

Mate it’s simple !

Most gyms will let you blow yourself up and go round and round in circles with little to no care !

Here , we want you to succeed , we want you to do well ! We want to keep you in our community !

What’s your training split look like ? Does it line up with your current goals ? Do you need help with both ? Have you seen progress in the last 4-6 weeks ? These are all good questions that you need to ask yourself / talk to your coaches about !

Myself and Sam are here to help !
