EVEN A BLIND SQUIRREL FINDS A NUT EVERY NOW AND THEN!

Headed out with these two lads for a weekend shoot and had a fantastic day, taking birds on the wing and checking out a few new spots.

Numbers are definitely thinning out in this particular swamp as the water drops. It’s been a popular spot, with plenty of birds harvested over the past month, but it looks like the geese are on the move.

Still a few around—you’ve just got to put in the miles and find them!

Weekend shooterz
For those heading out this weekend, all the tracks are open and nice and dry. Water levels are starting to drop, and the birds are moving around.

As per normal, they’re sticking out in the middle of the swamps. There are still birds around if you look hard enough, but if you’re not getting muddy feet, you won’t be shooting many birds this year!

Repair works on the Harrison Dam wall are now underway following a significant breach during the 2025/26 wet season and are expected to last for around 2 weeks.

Visitors to 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘋𝘢𝘮 𝘏𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦 are not expected to be impacted, including 𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘉𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘯𝘨.

We are backing recreational hunters and unlocking our parks so that more people can experience our 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦 𝘛𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘺𝘭𝘦 for themselves

The birds are still around! Thought I’d head out for a midday hunt today to see what I could get.
