‘Felix the Fat’ learning the free jump exercise.

Without a rider balancing on their back or interfering with the reins, horses can discover their own natural jumping style. It encourages a proper bascule and allows them to use their head and neck fully for balance. The horse learns how to snap up their front legs cleanly, and engage their hindquarters powerfully.

When free jumping, the horse must rely entirely on its own vision and internal clock to judge the distance and timing to a fence. With practice, this teaches them how to adjust their own stride lengths and figure out the ideal takeoff spot independently. If they make a minor mistake or knock a pole, they learn from it directly without rider interference.

Naomi is the standard.

Focused, committed, and relentlessly hardworking, Naomi is the kind of athlete who inspires everyone around her. She’s deeply coachable, absorbs complex training concepts with ease, and has that rare ability to translate theory into brilliance in the arena. Riders like her don’t just improve — they elevate.

Naomi has what can only be described as the Midas Touch. Give her any horse — and she’d find a way to produce a winning jump round. Everything she rides seems to turn to gold.

This year, she proved just how exceptional she truly is. Naomi is no stranger to the winners circle, but what sets her apart is her ability to replicate success across different horses. She took her winning streak to two mounts, claiming the Sponsored Series top point score across two divisions:

• Bronze Series on Apatchy
• Silver Series with Hitch

That achievement alone speaks volumes — but Naomi’s athleticism adds another layer to her excellence. Her core strength, balance, and fitness are extraordinary. She has a freakish ability to tell the horse the job, then stay out of its way. That sounds simple, but it’s one of the hardest skills in jumping: staying perfectly balanced so you never disrupt the horse’s rhythm, even while flying over fences or carving tight turns in speed rounds.

If you want to see real jump‑off lines, the kind that make crowds gasp and coaches grin, Naomi is the rider to watch. She rides with precision, instinct, and a touch of the superhuman.

What an incredible jump season she has delivered.

Celebrating Rider Excellence:
🌟Alexis Harvey 🌟

Alexis Harvey is one of those young riders who embodies every value we hope to see in our athletes — work ethic, intelligence, grit, kindness, and a deep, unwavering love for her horse. She is, in every sense, the worker: the kid who shows up, listens, learns, and gives absolutely everything she has.

Alexis is incredibly coachable, absorbing feedback with maturity far beyond her years. She strives to get every detail right, not because she wants praise, but because she genuinely cares about mastering her craft. She’s an old soul, thoughtful and grounded, with a calm intelligence.

Her talent is unmistakable — she has beautiful feel and timing, a natural connection with her horse, and the kind of bravery that sees her step up to any challenge with steely determination. She really is the whole package.

But above all of this, Alexis’ horsemanship shines brightest. She is professional, competitive, and still the sweetest kid in the world.

Alexis is no stranger to the hard slog required to be a competitive show jumper. This year tested her resilience: her horse faced feet issues that kept them out of the arena for a period.

She stayed focused on her dream — representing the NT at the Australian Interschools Championships — and she put in the work day after day. Her commitment never wavered.

I am incredibly proud of the hard work Alexis has poured into this season, and thrilled that she has been selected for the NT team.

Later this month, she will travel to Werribee, Victoria to compete, carrying with her not just skill, but the values that make her such a standout young athlete.

Alexis will be a wonderful ambassador for the NT — a rider who represents excellence not only in competition, but in character.

🌟 Emily Andrews 🌟

Growing up on remote cattle stations, horsemanship wasn’t just a hobby — it was a way of life. And Emily comes from a long line of great horsemen! Skill, feel, timing, and stock‑sense were woven into her childhood, and that foundation shows in every ride she produces today. Working with Emily has been a privilege; when natural talent meets genuine work ethic, coaching becomes easy.

Emily is the definition of a quiet achiever, but when it’s time to do business, she delivers. She rides with a soft, educated feel, paired with the kind of bravery you simply can’t teach. Give her a bold horse and the pair become electric — confident, forward, and utterly compelling to watch.

For the past three years, Emily has been a valued member of my Jump Team. In that time, she has grown into a polished, competitive show jumper with a calm head and a fierce determination. Her professionalism under pressure is remarkable; she never rattles, never rushes, never loses her focus.

At the recent DSJC event, Emily put on an absolute masterclass in jump‑off riding — sharp lines, smart decisions, and ice‑cool ex*****on — to win the 90cm class and earn the coveted DSJC Round of the Day. It was a performance that showcased exactly who she is: brave, thoughtful, and brilliantly competitive.

And her season didn’t stop there.

Emily has earned selection to represent the Northern Territory at the National Interschools Championships in Werribee, Victoria, coming up in late September 2026. It’s a huge achievement and a testament to her consistency, grit, and exceptional horsemanship.

Emily will be an outstanding ambassador for the NT — riding with grace, humility, and the quiet confidence that has become her trademark.

We are incredibly proud of her and will be cheering loudly for one of our finest NT exports.

Recognising Rider Excellence:
🌟 Matilda “Tilly” Dutton 🌟

Affectionately known as Tilly, she is the kind of young rider who lifts everyone around her. Kind, encouraging, and always championing for others.

At just 11 years old, Tilly isn’t driven by beating anyone else. Her motivation comes from a genuine desire to improve her horsemanship, refine her riding, and be the best partner she can be for her horse.

This season tested that commitment. When her own mount was sidelined for most of the year — a blow that would rattle even experienced riders — Tilly regrouped, refocused, and stepped up on her dad’s horse without hesitation. It wasn’t the plan, and it wasn’t the dream, but adaptability is one of the greatest lessons in the horse world, and she embraced it with maturity far beyond her years.

She put in the hard yards at training:

• Canter leads — working until she could reliably produce both
• Contact — improving feel, softness, and connection
• Sit trot — the toughest of all!

Tilly showed that what you put in at training is what you get out in competition.

And her efforts were rewarded.
She triumphed at the NTSHA Show, earning Champion Rider Under 18 Years 🏆

This result reflects not just skill, but resilience, perseverance, and the unwavering support of her family.
