Meet Steven 🤗

Steven is participating in his first Alice Springs Masters Games, we caught up with Steven so you can get to know him a little better:

🤔 What motivated you to enter the Alice Springs Masters Games for the first time?
A lot of my friends are playing in the games and I wanted to join in the fun!

🤔 Have you set any personal goals for the games?
My goal for the games is to try and improve my technical game against new participants so I can grow my shot range and become a better play all round.

🤔 What aspects of the games are you most excited to experience?
i’m looking forward to having some really good games, my body will definitely be sore the next day unfortunately.

🤔 What first got you interested in Badminton?
I used to play with my family when I was younger to keep fit and healthy, after stopping for a bit I picked up the racket again in high school and haven't stopped.

A huge congratulations to Olivia and Noah, who represented the Northern Territory with pride at the Queensland Junior Championships on 9–10 August.

Both players achieved excellent results:

We are very proud of Olivia and Noah, not only for their fantastic results, but also for the commitment, determination and sportsmanship they demonstrated while representing the NT.

A special thank you to Coaches Sam and Dina for their unwavering support, encouragement and dedication. Their genuine commitment to Olivia and Noah has contributed greatly to their development and these achievements.

NTBA at the 2026 U19 National Championships

Recently, the NTBA U19 team competed at the 2026 Australian U19 National Championships in Melbourne, held from 5-11 July.

Representing the Northern Territory were:

Olivia Joseph
Bishwesh Puri
Jemma Stark

To complete our team, we were grateful for the support of Victorian players:

Lewis Yu
Chloe Yung
Deqi Wang

A big thank you to Coach Dina Pawero and Team Manager John Stark for their guidance and support throughout the tournament.

Congratulations also to Noah Joseph, who represented Tasmania at the U15 National Championships.

Our team finished 8th out of 9 in the team event, recording a great win over the ACT.

All players also competed in the individual events, with some fantastic results:

Olivia Joseph won the Consolation Girls Singles, with Jemma Stark finishing runner-up.
Olivia Joseph and Jemma Stark won the Consolation Girls Doubles.

The photos capture our NT and Victorian players throughout both the team and individual competitions.

Most importantly, every player rose to the challenge, gained valuable experience, and represented the Northern Territory with pride, determination and a positive attitude. They learned a great deal, supported one another and, most importantly, had a fantastic week of badminton.

Congratulations to everyone involved, and thank you to our players, coach, manager and supporters for making the championships such a memorable experience.
