LIFE MEMBERSHIP - AMELIA PACKER ❤️🖤
Life Membership is one of the highest honours a club can bestow upon one of its members. It recognises not just one season or one achievement, but years of loyalty, service, commitment and dedication to the club.
Last night, we have the privilege of recognising Amelia Packer, whose involvement with our club stretches back more than two decades.
Amelia first pulled on the red and black as an Under 13s netballer in 2002. From those beginnings as a junior player, she progressed through our junior ranks and into senior netball, becoming a long-standing member of our A Grade side, as well as representing the club across B Grade and C Grade.
Across that time, she has played more than 250 senior netball games for Dederang Mount Beauty – an incredible achievement and a reflection of her loyalty, longevity and commitment to our club. Throughout her playing career, she has achieved plenty personally as well. She has won multiple junior Best and Fairest and runner-up awards, captained netball sides and is a previous A Grade Best and Fairest winner.
But Life Membership is about much more than what happens on the court.
Over the years, Amelia has continually found ways to give back to the club that gave her the opportunity to play the game she loves. She has served as Club Treasurer, held roles as Assistant Secretary, spent numerous years as a member of our General Committee and was a founding member of the club’s Social Sub-Committee.
She has been heavily involved in organising social functions and fundraising initiatives over many years, including fundraising towards our new netball courts and the family tiles project.
Her contribution to the development of our netballers has also been significant.
She has given her time to coach junior netball, including co-coaching our Under 15s in 2010 and guiding the team to an elimination final.
She has since transitioned into senior coaching roles as a B Grade and C Grade coach, leading our C Grade side to finals for the first time since the grade was formed. She continues to share her knowledge, experience and passion for netball with others at the club.
Throughout all of this, she has been dependable, kind, calm and incredibly loyal. She is a natural leader who has never needed recognition to continue contributing. Her involvement has spanned from junior player to senior player, captain, coach, committee member, office bearer, fundraiser and volunteer.
More than 20 years after first joining our club as an Under 13, she remains an active and valued member of the Bombers community.
Life Members form a special part of the history of our club, and tonight we are incredibly proud to add another very deserving name to that list.
It gives us great pleasure to award Life Membership of the Dederang Mount Beauty Football Netball Club to Amelia Packer.
