Continuing with our new daily series: Behind the Whistle!
Each day, we’ll shine a spotlight on a referee or touch judge who has helped shape, serve and contribute to the great game of rugby league.

Today we feature Steve Chiddy, who was graded as a referee from the Manly Referees Association.

While Steve began his career as a referee, it was as a Touch Judge and Video Referee that he truly flourished, becoming one of the most respected and significant officials of his era. His career statistics are outstanding. When combining all of his official appointments, Steve was involved in more than 850 ARL/NRL first grade fixtures across a remarkable career spanning around 25 years.

It is a tremendous record and a true reflection of his professionalism, consistency and outstanding contribution to rugby league officiating.

Who will be featured tomorrow? Stay tuned!

Continuing with our new daily series: Behind the Whistle!
Each day, we’ll shine a spotlight on a referee or touch judge who has helped shape, serve and contribute to the great game of rugby league.

Today we proudly feature Jason Walsh, a proud product of the Manly-Warringah Referees Association.
Jason was originally graded as a referee before making his mark as one of the game’s leading Touch Judges. Across an outstanding career, he officiated in more than 200 first grade games, including Test matches, State of Origin and an NRL Grand Final.
Jason also took the whistle in a handful of NSW Cup matches, and also officiated in a NSW Cup Grand Final as a Touch Judge.

Continuing with our new daily series: Behind the Whistle!
Each day, we’ll shine a spotlight on a referee or touch judge who has helped shape, serve and contribute to the great game of rugby league.

Today we feature Steve “Tedro” Lyons, who officiated more than 150 first grade games and holds a unique place in rugby league history. In 2003, Lyons became the first referee to control a golden point match in the NRL — and reportedly the first golden point match anywhere in the world. Steve was graded from the Manly Warringah Rugby League Referees Association
