Day 98: when it feels like you’re never going to get there, just keep going.

I’m coming to the end of my 100 days journey of desensitisation and happiness. Following some intense pain flares, I won’t lie in that I’ve wondered, ‘why bother’? ‘What has this achieved’?

But when the road ahead looks like it’s never going to end (which it probably won’t for me in terms of chronic pain), it’s important to look back and see how far we’ve come. And when you do, you may find that progress may not necessarily be in the areas you expect - but will be equally as valuable.

I have improved my fitness, I have learned to control my anxiety, I have learned to breathe through the pain barrier and I have opened to my eyes to value of self care and a simple life surrounded my loved ones (near and far).

A monumental shift 25/01/2019

A monumental shift in my new centre of balance, has been quite a reality check.

A monumental shift Apologies for the delay, it’s been a busy time – but it’s been quite groundbreaking for me. In the last 2 months, I’ve had a harsh reality check with the Universe teaching me a nu…

Day 65: date nights are so important for a healthy relationship!!
💕
I’ve been insta-quiet recently due to focusing on visiting family over Christmas 🎄(we had a fabulous time!). But it’s also important to acknowledge the importance of date nights when you’re in a relationship. Tonight was date night.
💕
It’s been a difficult few weeks pain wise in the aftermath of Christmas and “silly season”, but planning ahead to ensure quality time is spent with loved ones is vital for the health of relationships and overall happiness. It has to be a priority (in my eyes at least). So today I rested and then did my hair (thanks ❤️), put on my make up and my smile and headed out for dinner.
💕
We had a beautiful elegant meal together watching the waves and the storm roll in, whilst we chatted about the year ahead. Perfect evening.

Day 49: Creating balance in life means taking some time out for play.

Today I went to Luna Park and reminded myself about the simplicity childhood can have. The laughter, the magic and the exhilarating thrill of those stomach dropping twists and turns that only fairground rides bring.

I have to ask myself when life became quite so complicated and when ‘adulting’ takes over?

Day 46: a morning where a small hike provided both exercise and a sense of exploration and wonder.
🌴
The weather was a little clearer today so we took the opportunity to explore the island a little and headed for Hideaway Bay.
🌴
The walk was short (1.5km) but hilly in very humid conditions making it quite hard work and pain levels were rising, but the secluded beach accessed by a little pathway was so beautiful... 😍 it made everything worthwhile.

Day 43-45: taking a break in the Whitsundays at the moment and today is looking a bit ‘wet’! But it’s beautiful, it’s refreshing to hear the rain on the palm trees and I know it will pass (and there’s a great gym in the resort).

And when the weather does pass through, it looks like the other pictures! Paradise.

Day 30: and it’s time for tea!!

This very beautiful advent calendar was gifted to me, from my very special man .simply

Moving away from the usual chocolate variety, this will help me to focus on the health benefits that tea brings, every single day - well at least until the bearded man in a red suit delivers his gifts...! 🎁 🎅

Day 26: if only we all had a ‘re-set’ button!!

After the last few days, I decided to take my simplified training outside. Getting some exercise in the great outdoors is about as good as it gets and it lifted my spirits.

My trainer took me on a light run 🏃🏽‍♀️ (cue unimpressed face 😒) consisting of walking, stair climbs and 1 min jogs. Very simple and easy yet challenging in my current de-conditioned state.

It felt good. Switch it up, sometimes a change is as good as a rest.

Day 25: Desensitisation requires a lot of discipline, calm and happiness.

Lately, I’ve found my workouts were bringing me a huge sense of satisfaction but resulted in frustration, sadness and confusion in my head due to multiple pain relapses. I was doing too much - as reluctant as I am to admit it.

So, when things aren’t working for you, strip it back to the basics and simplify. This goes for many elements of life - workouts being just one of them.

Day 20: celebrating those who make a big difference in our life.

Today I reflected on my biggest supporter who, in his own words “has one job; to keep you (me) alive”.

My husband tirelessly looks out for me, especially in my times of need - to the point where I don’t need to say anything, he just knows what I need.

Creating balance isn’t about having the the right things to fill our lives, but the right people to help us navigate through it. And that generates happiness and contentment, love and fulfilment to contribute to our overall mental and physical health.

Day 19: a charm from Hong Kong to signify “Health”

I thought I’d share this today to send well wishes of good health to all my followers! I’ve had a good day today and I hope you all do too.

Day 18: I put into practice the lesson of regression.

Sometimes we need to regress our workouts to be able to progress. Pushing ourselves too hard can result in unnecessary stresses on the body. If we’re not firing on all cylinders in the first place then we can just do ourselves further damage.

This was me last week - I felt fine during my workouts but my following exhaustion showed that they still took too much out of me. I have promised myself (and my hubby) that I would regress the intensity this week.

Today was resistance training focusing on back and core (30 mins) with a good stretch and plenty of fluids.
