🐍 ALBANVALE COBRAS | 2027 RESERVES HEAD COACH

Albanvale Football Club is seeking applications and expressions of interest for the position of 2027 Reserves Head Coach.

We are looking for a passionate, committed and motivated coach to lead our Reserves program and play an important role within our Senior Football Department.

This is an exciting opportunity for a coach who is passionate about player development, team performance, strong football culture and creating a pathway for players to progress into senior football.

🏉 THE ROLE
The successful applicant will take responsibility for leading our Reserves team through pre-season and the 2027 WFNL season, including training, match-day preparation, team performance and player development.

A key component of the role will be working closely with the Senior Head Coach and broader senior coaching staff to ensure full alignment across both teams.

This includes alignment around:

🔹 Football philosophy and game plan
🔹 Training standards and expectations
🔹 Player development and progression
🔹 Team structures and preparation
🔹 Communication and feedback
🔹 Club culture and standards

We are looking for a coach who can lead, develop and inspire players, while working collaboratively within a unified senior football program.

👤 THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are seeking someone who:

✅ Has previous coaching experience
✅ Has a strong understanding of Australian Rules football
✅ Is passionate about developing players and helping them reach their potential
✅ Is an excellent communicator and leader
✅ Can build strong relationships with players and coaching staff
✅ Is organised, reliable and committed
✅ Has a collaborative, team-first and club-first approach
✅ Is committed to contributing positively to the culture and future of Albanvale Football Club

🎓 COACHING ACCREDITATION
Relevant AFL coaching accreditation is preferred.

Applicants who do not currently hold the required accreditation but have suitable coaching experience will be considered, provided they demonstrate a willingness to obtain the appropriate accreditation.

All applicable AFL and WFNL coaching requirements will need to be satisfied.

More Cobras are jumping on board for 2027 we’re excited to announce this one!

Vice Captain Nathan Ranno is locked in for another big year at Cobraland. The ultra-reliable leader stands tall week in, week out. Arguably the best wingman in the competition, his work rate to give the side an outlet and attacking drive, but also willingness to always get back into defence and help out is a stand out.

Strong in the air, tough and courageous when needed and a beautiful user of the ball by foot, it’s easy to understand why we couldn’t wait for this news!

Well Done Nathan on a stand out 2026 season, with bigger and better things to come in 2027!

Last night we had the privilege of having 3 teams represent the Cobras in a WFNL Grand Final. A huge shoutout to all the players, coaches, staff and volunteers lucky enough to be involved in the day. Whilst our Div 1 Ladies and Prem Men sides didn’t get the chocolates to underline their magnificent seasons, the Res Men did so in their first year! A premiership cup is coming home to Cobraland!

D.M.C Group Services Player of the Week - Semi Final

An outstanding and combative performance from Macauley Lonergan took out the Player of the Week in our Semi Final on Sunday.

Macca accumulated 32 touches of which 22 were contested, and 7 tackles, highlighting the tough, hardfought nature of his game. He was also a driving force for the side with 8 clearances, 10 intercept possessions and 8 score involvements.

A standout game among a standout season for our reigning Best and Fairest winner, well done Macca!

In what was a tough, closely contested game across the afternoon, Macca had plenty of teammates come along for the ride.

Zach Papamihail (32 touches and a goal), Corey Field (26 disposals, 6 inside 50s), Brendan Cassar (16 disposals, 10 intercept possessions), Nathan Ranno (6 rebound 50s and 9 marks) and David Ranno (8 tackles) with strong contributions.

That was our last Player of the Week announcement for 2026. so it goes without saying a big Thank you and shoutout to D.M.C Group Services for their support in 2026 making this possible. The ability to assess, analyse, review and provide up to date and accurate feedback to our players and coaches has been amazing in helping them take the next step in their learning and development as well as finding areas for the side to chase continuous improvement in.

We look forward to a bigger and better 2027!
