💬 Celebrating Speech Pathology Week with our Kites team!
This Speech Pathology Week, we’re shining a spotlight on the people who help children find their voice, build confidence and reach their communication goals.
Meet one of our wonderful Kites speech pathologists, Becc who joined the team in April 2025.
When asked what led her to speech pathology, Becc shared:
“I began studying when I had three young children and a fourth on the way. I was looking for something within the health professions that I could study part-time and online – and speech pathology was one of the only options. I’m so glad this is what I chose, as it combines all my strengths and interests into one great profession!”
For Becc, one of the most rewarding parts of the role is seeing the difference therapy can make.
“I love seeing the progress that my clients make, which then has a huge impact on their ability to communicate and, in turn, their quality of life.”
And her advice for anyone considering a career in speech pathology?
“It can be a challenging path to get here, but it is worth it! It’s a great career for people who like problem-solving, lifelong learning and helping others.”
At Kites, Becc especially values the organisation’s person-centred approach and commitment to excellence.
“I love working with kids to help them reach their goals.”
This Speech Pathology Week, we’re celebrating our speech pathologists and the meaningful difference they make every day. 💙

💬 Celebrating Speech Pathology Week with Helena!
For Speech Pathology Week, we’re shining a spotlight on the people at Kites who help children and families achieve their communication goals.
For Helena, becoming a speech pathologist was inspired by a very personal experience.
“My sister has autism, and I grew up watching her have speech therapy on a regular basis. She was non-verbal but is now able to communicate verbally and live independently. This inspired me to want to help other families and give them the gift of communication.”
Now, after 10 years with EverAbility, Helena continues to find joy in supporting children and their families.
Her favourite part of being a speech pathologist is “watching them achieve their goals and milestones” – and she loves the variety that comes with her role at Kites.
“From AAC, speech and language to mealtimes, I get to do something exciting and different every day.”
And Helena’s advice for anyone thinking about becoming a speech pathologist is simple:
“Go for it – it’s an amazing profession! 🙂”
This Speech Pathology Week, we’re celebrating Helena and all our speech pathologists for the difference they make in the lives of children and families every day. 💙
