A nice little rug was found at our local op shop in Hagley, Trash Transformers. It had lost some fringing, but I managed to find some similar coloured wool in my craft box and I fixed it. Shaz Sullivan can you spot where I fixed it? Look closely and you will find it, as it's not quite the same shade, but it works. Thanks for the purchase, it goes really well in my house

Another little job done ✅
Filling the gap between the wall, the beams and the sub floor....now to go mow the lawns!

23/09/2026

Almost done with all these little jobs, today I tidied up the hallway that once was the back room.
I knocked down a wall and doorway to open the space up, and then just left it, thinking the builder can fix my meds...well, no, I gave it a go and I won!
Tick that box ☑️

Let's make a base for this drawer unit and get it fitted correctly! I have never made a base or fitted a unit before, but let's give it a go and just try.

This is what it's like in my brain...a constant talk to myself to work out how, where, why.

I did the window, so why not tackle the funky step in the bedroom...it's not easy when the house isn't straight. But, it's done, and one day I will paint the trims and the walls so you won't see the filler/bog.
For a first time using a mitre box I think I did ok.

Sometimes I wake up and think let's go frame a window! I have done just square framing before but not fancy mitres, so I googled and after several attempts I worked out what and how to do it.
This window was ⅓ in the walk in pantry and ⅔ in the back room. Once I removed the back wall the entire window was now in the back room. Hence why the framing was weirdly cut.
I think it turned out pretty good considering it was my first go. I then went on to tackle the trims around the stairs!

Let's watch plaster dry!
Day two, another plaster coating, remove the screws and wait till dry.
Looking better already

Do you want to know how to patch a hole in plaster board? Well, follow along and I will show you how I do it...which probably isn't right but it works for me!
As I say, give it a go, and try...that way, you are never failing, cause you tried!!

Ok, don't worry about how ugly the first coat looks, it will disappear soon. Some of these patches were in really awkward positions so, they are ugly, but I reckon after another coat and sanding, it will be fine!
Let's wait a day or two and add another coat when it's dry.

A switch around was needed, I moved the bed up to the top level of the room and the dressing area down the bottom...I like it better this way.
I still have to get the trims done, but do I paint these walls or leave them timber? I will leave the ceiling, the doors and window trims timber...what's your thoughts?

It's Monday and I thought I better finish the job I started...panel the back wall and reglaze that window. Let's see how I go.
I reused everything, it didn't cost me anything.
