We’re excited to now welcome little swimmers from 6 months to 3 years into our Learn to Swim program, with a parent or guardian joining them in the water as they build confidence, water familiarity and early safety skills from the very beginning.

And for kids 3+, our regular Learn to Swim program continues across a range of levels to help develop strong, confident swimmers.

🌊 Growing up by the coast, feeling comfortable and confident around water is such an important skill — especially with summer on the way.

Family Fun starts TOMORROW! 💦☀️
Come splash, play + make the most of the school holidays!

Family Fun at the pool is coming these October school holidays! 💦 A relaxed, fun way for the whole family to enjoy some pool time — no bookings required, just walk in.

Week 1 session times
Monday–Friday: 12:30–3:30pm
Saturday: 9:00am–1:00pm

Week 2 session times
Monday–Friday: 1:00–4:00pm
Saturday: 9:00am–1:00pm

Please note: Thursday 8 October the pool will be closed for a private booking from 12:00–1pm, so Family Fun Sessions will run from 1:00–3:00pm only that day.

Entry prices:
Adult — $8.50
Child 3–15 years — $6.50
Under 3 — FREE with a paying adult
Family Pass — $25 for up to 2 adults + 3 children aged 15 and under
Non-swimmer — $3

Meet Daisy! 💙 One of our instructors and swim school supervisors, and a familiar face around the pool. This week, we’re getting to know her a little better 👇

Favourite thing about working at the pool? Working with the kids & being close with the community!

Favourite level to teach? I love teaching Oysters & Sandpipers because I love teaching the younger kids & watching their confidence grow in the water!

Favourite pool activity? My favourite pool activity is Water polo! I have played it in school teams over the years.

Something we may not know about you? I am studying for a bachelor of education next year!

🏊 School Holiday Intensive Workshops start next Monday!

There are still a few spots available — book now and give your swimmer an extra boost these holidays with three focused lessons across the week.

Give your swimmer a head start this summer with our 3-day intensive Learn to Swim workshops!

Designed to help swimmers build confidence, strengthen their skills and make faster progress through repeated practice across one week.

📅 Monday 5th, Wednesday 7th & Friday 9th October
⏱️ 30-minute sessions
💦 3 lessons across the week
💰 $60 per swimmer

Choose from every level in our Learn to Swim program — from Oysters through to Mini Squad.

Your swimmer will attend the same session time on all three days, making it easy to fit into your school holiday plans.

Expect a mix of skill development, water safety, stroke work, confidence building and a little bit of fun along the way!

Great to have our local Nippers in the pool for their pre-season swim training! 🌊🏊🏼‍♂️ a great way to build fitness and confidence ahead of the season. 

Pre-Season Swim Sessions for Nippers!

As we prepare for another exciting surf lifesaving season, we will be running a series of Pre-Season Swim Sessions at Southern Beaches Swim Centre to help our Nippers build confidence and develop their water skills before the season begins.

These sessions are not intended to replace Learn to Swim lessons, which are strongly recommended for all Nippers. Instead, they are designed to complement existing swimming skills and provide valuable surf lifesaving preparation.

During the sessions, participants will have the opportunity to:
- Develop surf awareness and water safety skills
- Practice lap swimming and improve fitness
- Work towards proficiency requirements
- Learn basic pool rescue techniques
- Build confidence in the water through fun and engaging activities

Sessions will be run by some of our experienced senior club members, and we strongly encourage all Nippers to attend. If you are unable to make every session, we recommend attending one or two where possible to gain the benefit of the program.
A reminder that all Nippers must successfully complete their proficiency assessment before they are permitted to participate in water activities at the beach this season. If you are unable to attend the scheduled proficiency session, please contact us so alternative arrangements can be made.

Swimming is a vital lifesaving skill, and our aim is to ensure every Nipper feels safe, capable and confident in the water as they begin the season.

Meet the people behind SBSC 👋
We’re kicking off a little series to introduce you to some of the friendly faces you’ll see around the Centre.

Introducing Dean, our resident squad coach and one of the familiar faces you’ll see poolside at SBSC.

We put him through a few quick-fire questions and found out a little more about the coach behind the squad!

Favourite thing about working at the pool? Getting to work around something I’ve loved for years - and having the freedom to jump in for a swim whenever I feel like it.

Favourite swim stroke / pool activity? Sprint freestyle

Coffee order or favourite snack? Long black and the cinnamon muffins in the Deep End Cafe

Something people might not know about you? I swam competitively for six years and I’ll turn anything into a competition!

We’re so excited to be hosting one of our local primary schools for their swimming carnival this coming Friday, 25 September 🥳

That means the pool will be closed to the public from 9am-2:30pm! We’re sorry for the inconvenience this causes for our regulars.

Lap Swimming still available 6am-8:30am 🏊🏼‍♀️
Learn to Swim classes will still run as normal 3:30pm-6:30pm 💦
