Got discharged from hospital today after having my Total Hip Replacement Surgery. Where would you be most likely to find me? Back in the dojang! Itโs great to be back. ๐๐ฅ

Total Hip Replacement finally got done today! Iโm so glad to get it done after such a long wait. Unfortunately I managed to take a fall on the way to the toilet earlier so I needed to get X-rays done. Being a martial artist we get straight back up after we fall (which was against the nurses orders). She wasnโt used to that as she was saying that most people just crumble into a heap and need help getting back up.
Iโm so happy that my family came to visit me in the hospital today and I even got to have a quick FaceTime call with the Taekwondo class tonight. Thank you so much for all your support, it is very much appreciated! ๐
I look forward to getting back to Taekwondo classes later this week. ๐๐ฅ

Congratulations to our coloured belt team who tried out for the State team today for sparring. Kai, Benji & Beatrice all gave it their best shot in their fights and all of them finished in the top 4 in Victoria in their respective divisions.
This now means they have qualified for the Australian Championships which are held in Canberra at the start of October.
Kai Shane & Clarice have also qualified earlier in the year so we now have 5 fighters representing our club at the Nationals. We wish them the best of luck.
Final results for today:

Next week is the State Selection Competition for Poomsae so we hope we can also be successful with qualifying our students for Nationals in that too! ๐๐ฅ

Introducing Leonardo, our youngest member of our Taekwondo club right now (3 years old). His favourite part of training is the sparring and heโs not afraid to mix it up with anyone. Watch out for him as he has a bright future ahead in Taekwondo! ๐๐ฅ

Congratulations to our 8 students who competed in the ATV Moomba State Championships yesterday. It was a long day but we gained valuable mat time in both Poomsae & Kyorugi. These are the experiences that we need to build towards the National Championships later on this year. Everyone gave it their best effort and as their coach thatโs all I can ask for and I am super proud of our entire team.

Congratulations to everyone who attempted their grading today at our Ivanhoe East dojang. Everyone gave it their best effort and the results were impressive on the whole.
Today was Selenaโs special day. Going for black belt is a big deal and Selena has been training for this moment for many years. Despite this, it was only yesterday where she was looking a bit shaky on a couple of things. In true Selena style, she persevered with things until she got it right. This is a true black belt spirit. As her father I am so proud of her and it was very difficult for me to overcome the tears of joy of how proud I am of her. When she read her essay out loud to everyone it is obvious that she is not only great at Taekwondo but she is a great person. Congratulations on achieving your 1st Poom.
Lauren also attempted her 4th Dan grading today and performed very well. We congratulate her on her achievement as 4th Dan is considered a high level of Taekwondo expertise, both in skill and knowledge. Well done Lauren!
Results of gradings will all be finalised properly during class this week. Unfortunately we had time constraints today as we were running a bit behind schedule.
*Update: I have now gone through all the results of the panel. 34 candidates were tested for promotion:
24 Passed
4 Fail
6 Incomplete (apologies to these candidates but due to time constraints you will be tested on your theory & terminology in your next class). Other assessed areas were a pass.
I would also like to thank Master Sam (6th Dan) and Master Karl (5th Dan) for their assistance on the grading panel today. It was a pleasure to work alongside you and itโs nice for our students to meet senior instructors from other clubs. ๐๐ฅ
