🌭🏏 SNAGS, SMILES & A SERIOUSLY GOOD CREW 🏏🌭

A huge thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and helped out at our Bunnings Sausage Sizzle on Saturday.

From the early starters firing up the BBQ, to the cooks, servers, sellers and clean-up crew — these days only happen because good people give up their time to help the club.

And once again, the Dromana CC community delivered. 💚💛

Every snag sold 🌭 helps us put more back into our junior cricket program 🏏 and create better opportunities for the next generation of Hoppers.

A big thanks also to Bunnings for giving community clubs like ours the opportunity to raise much-needed funds.

🌭 BUNNINGS BBQ — THIS SATURDAY! 🌭

Here's your reminder that this Saturday, September 12th, Dromana CC is running a BBQ fundraiser at Rosebud Bunnings from 7.30am ... and every dollar raised goes directly to our junior program.

If you've ever watched a Hopper kid pick up a bat for the first time and thought "Yeah, this club is worth supporting" - Saturday is your chance to put a sausage where your mouth is.

Two ways to help:

👋 Volunteer for a shift behind the BBQ - we need bodies from 7.30am onwards. It's a few hours, good company and you'll go home knowing you did something that matters for the next generation of Hoppers. Message us here or comment below if you can help.

🌭 Can't volunteer? Just drop in and grab a snag. Bring the family, bring a mate, bring your appetite. It takes five minutes and means everything to the kids in this photo.

🏏 Junior cricket is BACK at Dromana CC!

If you've got a kid aged 7–14 who loves cricket - or has never tried it but wants to - this Thursday is the perfect place to start.

📅 Thursday September 3rd | 4:30–5:45pm
📍 Dromana Recreation Reserve

All new players welcome. No experience needed. Just bring them along, let them have a hit ... and see what happens.

The Hoppers junior programme is growing fast and there's never been a better time to be part of it. We'd love to see some new faces this week. 🦗💚💛🤍

VALE GARY ABBLITT

Everyone at Dromana CC is saddened to learn of Gary’s passing on Saturday.

Gary became a welcome and regular Hopper over many years as he proudly watched Will play for us and while his daughter Megan was Secretary.

He was known for his warm smile, his cheeky personality and his thorough disregard for correctness!

We loved having Gary around.

Our thoughts are with Megan, Will, Jacko and the whole family at this sad time.

We’re also thinking of Mount Martha CC, where Gary was also an institution.

The Hoppers have their leaders. Now the work begins. 🏏 💪🏻

Zacc Klan takes the reins as Senior Coach - the man setting the standard at training and building that winning culture during the week.

Bob Wilson steps up as Director of Cricket and 1st XI Captain - the sort of dual role that tells you everything about what’s expected of him and how much faith the club has placed in his hands. Bob sets the tone on and off the field.

Zach Godden leads the 2nd XI bringing in new talent and pushing more lads towards the ones. That’s the competition we want at this club.

Shaun “Capo” McMahon takes charge of the 3rds -with back-to-back finals series in his sights.

🏏 Meet the people who make it all happen - and who definitely didn’t get talked into it at the bar. 😜

Introducing the Dromana Cricket Club Executive Committee for the 2026/27 season. These legends have volunteered their time, their weekends, and in Homer’s case, their sanity, to keep the Hoppers running.

Greg McCann leads the charge as President. Ryan Smith keeps Greg honest as Vice President. Megan Marotta holds the whole thing together as Secretary. And Trev Rendell, our Treasurer, will continue to balance the books with a pencil and paper

Joining them on the General Committee are Luke Marotta, Beau Anthony, Nathan Bradbury, Tim Blake, Nathan Sims, and Alison Hayes - the unsung heroes of every project, function, task, matchday and decision.

Sometimes you just get a hunch that a player is going to make an impact the moment they walk into the joint. 💥

Sula is a hard-hitting middle order bat with almost 5,000 MyCricket runs on his profile, a capable medium-pace option with the ball too and a dynamic fielder. And he’s come to Dromana to win games of cricket. 🏆

How's this to get your week off to a flyer?!

We're pumped to welcome Josh Little to Pier Street for the 2026/27 season. Josh is a cricketer through and through who - at just 22 years of age - has already played at impressively high levels. He's a Lancashire pathways product and a keeper-batter with the flexibility to bat anywhere in the order.

Josh is coming here to play tough cricket in the perfect place - and the Hopper Army are going to love witnessing his work behind the stumps and with the bat this summer. 🦗

Welcome to the green, gold and white, Josh. 💚💛🤍

You don't have to be the best player to belong at Hopperland. You just have to want to have a go.

Every season we welcome children who've never played organised cricket before. Some arrive knowing every player in the Aussie team.

Others aren't even sure which end of the bat to hold!

By the end of the season they're all teammates.

They're more confident.

And then they're already asking when cricket starts again.

If your son or daughter is aged 7–16, we'd love to welcome them into the Dromana family this season.
