At the start of the year Ciara was trying to lose weight for her surgery using weight loss medication to help her achieve her goals.

I sent her a little DM to see how it was working and if I could help her reach that goal weight before her surgery day.

See weightloss medication is good at numbing the hunger cues in our brain but good exercise and nutrition helps our body to feel energised, strong and capable. It also leads to more independence and confidence off the medication.

Your lean muscle mass reduces by 3 - 8% each decade after the age of 35.

This means you are relying on only your bones to carry your grandchildren, oh but your bone density decreases with eastrogen as well.

And guess what increases when you don’t lift weight after 35? Body fat! Because your Oestrogen works as a metabolism booster, aiding insulin production for any blood sugar increases.

In perimenopause as you decrease in oestrogen you lose this assistance.

But you can keep all of the above in check when you Lift Weights!!

Calories are what bring you into muscle building or drop you into fat burning.

If you were to shape a piece of playdough and remove pieces at a time it gets smaller (while still being able to move/exercise). If you were to add more playdough it would be larger.

Calories are like your playdough, your adding or subtracting

Disclaimer that your calories do not need to be the lowest amount available. You personally have a unique amount to strive for. You can use my free calculator in my bio.

Once you know your numbers then follow below:

Stick closely to the meals you eat each day so you only need to track once. Make small changes to your veggies and condiments, then gradually swap in similar-calorie meals once you’ve found your groove.

Have a balance of foods you actually enjoy each day. It’ll help you stay on track while fuelling your body with the essential vitamins and minerals it needs.

Eat at least 3-6 meals a day to keep your metabolism running efficiently, reduce cravings, and help prevent binge eating.

At Bode you work with a coach who can write your meal plan for you, guide you through the process, and make it so much easier.
