What a fantastic day! πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ€βš½πŸ€Ί

On Monday 10 August, we welcomed around 126 students to our Deaf Secondary Students to a day full of sport, connection and fun

Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to get involved in a range of activities including handball, netball, basketball, fencing, football and passive games.

It was fantastic to see so many students getting involved, trying different sports, learning new skills and, most importantly, having fun together. The energy throughout the day was amazing, with plenty of smiles, teamwork and encouragement across all the activities.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day possible, and to all the students who came along and gave everything a go! πŸ’™

We hope everyone had as much fun as we did, and we look forward to seeing you at the next Deaf Sports Day! πŸ‘πŸ½

πŸ€ BASKETBALL NEWS! πŸ€
A massive congratulations to our Victorian 5x5 Basketball team for bringing home the SILVER MEDAL πŸ₯ˆ at the Australian Deaf Games!
The Grand Final saw our old rivals (or should I say arch nemesis 😜) New South Wales standing in the way once again. It wasn't the result we were chasing, but what an incredible effort from the Victorian team.
That's back-to-back SILVER medals after also finishing runners-up at the previous Australian Deaf Games. Consistency like that doesn't happen by accidentβ€”it comes from hard work, teamwork, and never giving up.
Hold your heads high, team. You represented Victoria with pride, passion, and plenty of heart. We'll be back... and NSW, we're coming for that GOLD next time! πŸ’™πŸ€πŸ€
Congratulations to everyone involvedβ€”an achievement to be proud of!

πŸ₯ DRUM ROLL PLEASE... πŸ₯

Well... the secret is finally out!!

πŸŽ‰ Congratulations to Bunbury, Western Australia, on being announced as the hosts of the 2030 Australian Deaf Games! πŸ’™πŸ’›

A massive congratulations to everyone involved in the successful bid. We know you'll put on an incredible Games and showcase the best of the Deaf community over the next four years.

As for us Victorians... we'll be there! Bigger, louder (well... you know what I mean 😜), and ready to chase plenty more medals!

For now, let's celebrate an amazing ADG2026, thank everyone who made it such a memorable week, and start the countdown...

πŸ“… Bunbury 2030... we'll see you there! πŸ‘‹πŸŽ‰

β™ŸοΈ CHESS NEWS β™ŸοΈ

After playing chess myself over the last 3 days... I had an absolute blast! Sure, I got beaten by a 9-year-old and a 14-year-old... but who's counting? πŸ˜‚ We all had a great time, and that's what it's all about!

Now, onto the real stars of the Victorian team... what a squad we have, and I reckon we've got a future champion in our midst!

πŸ… Hasas (12 years old)
πŸ₯‡ Junior Champion
πŸ₯‡ State Team Champion (Vic A)
πŸ₯‡ Blitz Champion

Three GOLD medals at just 12 years old... scary good! Watch this space because the future of Victorian Deaf Chess is looking very bright. β™ŸοΈβ

πŸ… Phillip Waters
πŸ₯ˆ Senior Champion
πŸ₯‡ State Team Champion (Vic A)
πŸ₯‰ Blitz Champion

Another brilliant Games from Phillip, showing his class across all formats.

πŸ… Benjamin Andrews
πŸ₯‰ Senior Champion
πŸ₯‡ State Team Champion (Vic A)
4️⃣ Blitz

A fantastic effort from Ben, helping Vic A claim the team title and adding another medal to Victoria's growing tally.

To all our chess playersβ€”young and oldβ€”you've made Victoria incredibly proud. Checkmate... well played! β™ŸοΈπŸ’™

πŸ“ TABLE TENNIS NEWS πŸ“

Victoria keeps adding to the medal tally!!

πŸ₯ˆ Men's Doubles - SILVER
πŸ₯‰ Men's Doubles - BRONZE
πŸ₯ˆ Mixed Doubles - SILVER

Mighty, mighty effort by our table tennis crew!

Yes... our beloved Michael Louey packed up, crossed the border to Queensland and decided to win EVERY SINGLE Table Tennis event! 😜 Thanks for nothing, Michael!!

That meant it was someone else's turn to step up... and guess what? We still came home with a stack of medals. That's what Victorian spirit is all about!

The search for our next Victorian Table Tennis champion is well and truly on... but for now, enjoy those medals and celebrate an awesome Games.

Massive congratulations to everyone involved – you've done Victoria proud! πŸ‘πŸ’™

⚽️ Futsal update! ⚽️

Not every medal comes the easy way... sometimes it's all about heart, determination and never giving up.

πŸ₯‰ Victorian Women's Futsal Team

The girls went down to Queensland 0-5 today, but still take home the BRONZE MEDAL! πŸ₯‰

Considering this team was thrown together at the very last minute, to come away from the Australian Deaf Games with a medal is a mighty effort. You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves. Who knows what you could achieve with a bit more time together! Well done, ladies! πŸ‘πŸ’™

πŸ’™ Victorian Men's Futsal Team

The boys missed out on a bronze medal after an absolute heartbreaker, losing in a penalty shootout following 50 minutes of hard-fought futsal.

Penalty shootouts... they're enough to make anyone lose a few years off their life! πŸ˜…

I could see plenty of sore bodies, bruises and tired legs out there, but you kept fighting right until the final kick. It wasn't the result you wanted, but you represented Victoria with pride and left everything on the court.

Heads up, boys. You'll be back stronger next time. πŸ’™πŸ€

πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡ Glen Flindell πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡

Seriously Glen... are you giving everyone else a chance?! πŸ˜‚
