It is with heavy hearts that we remember Joaquin Imperial, who sadly passed away recently. He was a valued member of the Perth Redbacks family and he proudly represented Redbacks in the WABL program from Under 12's to Under 16's. He was Defensive Player of the year when he was in Under 14's and his coaches always commented how hard he worked on court and what a great teammate he was.

We celebrate the memories he helped create and the friendships he built. He loved his time playing for Redbacks, and loved the LA Lakers, Drake, anime and gaming.

Our thoughts are with Joaquin's family and friends.

Rest in peace Joaquin. Your Redbacks family will always remember you πŸ•ΈοΈβ€οΈ

Graham Pixie Smith Award - Congratulations to Thomas Smith πŸ†

Thomas enjoyed an outstanding season with the Redbacks, consistently contributing to his team and continuing to demonstrate his development as a player throughout the year. Importantly, Thomas’ contribution to the Redbacks extended well beyond playing. He has continued to give back to the club through refereeing and helping out wherever needed, showing a genuine commitment to the wider Redbacks community. His willingness to get involved and contribute across different areas of the program is a great example for other young athletes progressing through the Redbacks pathway. Thomas’ combination of on-court contribution, club involvement and willingness to give back made him a deserving recipient of the Graham β€œPixie” Smith Trophy.

This year’s President’s Award goes to Jennifer Saliacus and Nathan Giglia, recognising their incredible contribution to our club over the years as dedicated board members and volunteers.

Thank you, Jen and Nath, for everything you’ve given to the club. We’re incredibly lucky to have you as part of our familyπŸ•ΈοΈβ€οΈ

This year's President's Medallion goes to Adam Gunnis.

Adam has coached multiple WABL teams, volunteered throughout the year in our Elite Training Program, and has been a huge support to Dave, Charlie and Rohan.

And recently his contribution has gone well beyond what we could ever reasonably ask of a volunteer.

Adam’s commitment to coaching and player development has also been recognised more broadly, with his appointment as a Head Coach of a Basketball WA state team through the School Sport pathway.

That recognition says a lot about the quality of coach he is, but more importantly for us, it reflects the commitment and energy he continues to give to the Redbacks and to basketball more broadly.

Adam, thank you for everything you bring to our club.
