🩰✨ Concert Costume Care: Keeping Everything Stage-Ready! ✨

Concert costumes are a special part of bringing our concerts to life, and many have delicate fabrics, embellishments and details that need a little extra care. 💜

Once your dancer's costume comes home, here are a few simple things to remember:

🧥 Keep costumes separate. Store each costume separately to help prevent tangles, damage and colour or glitter transferring between garments.

👗 Use a garment bag. Keep costumes protected and together, ready for concert day. Make sure any loose accessories are stored safely with the correct costume.

🧺 Please don't wash or iron! Unless we've specifically instructed you to, avoid washing, ironing or applying heat to costumes. Some fabrics and decorations can be easily damaged.

✨ Watch out for glitter and shedding fabrics. If a costume sheds glitter, feathers or other decorations, keep it separate from other costumes to avoid transferring them.

🪡 Need to make a small alteration? Please check with us first before sewing, gluing, cutting or changing anything. We'll let you know what's needed!

And remember, if you're unsure about anything, just ask! We'd much rather help than have a costume accidentally damaged.

We love concert time and we're looking forward to Dreams hitting the stage in full glamour. We can't wait to see it all come together! 💜

🧵✨ Concert Costume Update! ✨🧵

Behind the scenes, our Dreams concert preparations are well underway! 🌙

We've almost finished measuring all our dancers, and our first costume order has already arrived! Some costumes are ordered, while others are made from scratch, with lots of care going into making sure everything is just right for the big day. 💜

Have we measured your dancer yet? If we haven't got your dancer's sizes, please let Jennie know this week so we can make sure everyone is accounted for!

And what do parents need to do when costumes arrive? Usually, not a lot! Occasionally, you might need to sew on a strap or button, or attach a few extra decorations, but these are generally simple little jobs. We'll let you know exactly what's needed.

If you're unsure about anything or need a hand, please just ask. We're happy to help!

We can't wait to see all the pieces come together for our December concert! ✨

We hope everyone has had a wonderful school holiday break! We’re ready to fill the studio with music, movement, laughter and plenty of dancing again. 🩰🎶

Term 4 is here, and we have lots to look forward to… including our **Dreams concert** getting closer and a few exciting surprises along the way! 🌙👀

We can’t wait to see all our dancers back in the studio! 💜

✨ The studio might be quiet, but behind the scenes… things are busy! ✨

While our dancers are enjoying a well-earned school holiday break, there’s still plenty happening behind the scenes at Studio 58!

With our Dreams concert coming up fast, we’re busy planning, creating and getting as much organised as we can now — because there’s a lot to do before those curtain lights come on! 🌙✨

And did you know that we make many of our concert costumes from scratch? 🧵✂️

That means lots of planning, fabric, sewing, patience (and quite a few hours at the sewing machine!) go into creating the costumes our dancers will eventually take to the stage in.

It’s a big job… but seeing everything come together on our dancers makes every stitch worth it. 💜

And the best part for our dance families? You don't have to lift a finger! We take care of the costume-making so you can simply enjoy watching your dancer shine on stage. ✨

The countdown to concert season is officially on! 🌙💜

💭✨ Every Dream Starts With a Little Imagination ✨💭

Our dancers are working towards something very special this year as we look ahead to our December Concert.

With a theme of Dreams, we're already thinking about all the possibilities that can come to life on stage.

Dreams can be big or small. They can be nightmares or happy worlds built by our imagination. We can make them about places we'd love to visit, things we'd love to achieve, people we admire, magical worlds we imagine—or simply something we've always wished we could do.

And that's one of the wonderful things about dance: it gives us a chance to turn imagination into movement and bring stories to life that usually no-one else can see.

We can't wait to see our dancers' dreams and nightmares this year. ✨💜

👟 Are All Dance Shoes Created Equal?

When your child starts dance, it's tempting to look for the cheapest pair of shoes you can find—especially when little feet seem to grow overnight!

But dance shoes aren't quite the same as everyday shoes. They're specifically designed to allow dancers to move, point, flex and perform their movements comfortably.

When choosing dance shoes, it's worth considering:

✨ Fit – a dance shoe should fit securely without being uncomfortably tight.

✨ Flexibility – dancers need to be able to point and move their feet naturally.

✨ Construction – quality materials and stitching can make a big difference to how a shoe performs and how long it lasts.

✨ The right shoe for the style – ballet, jazz, tap and other dance styles all have different footwear requirements.

A more expensive shoe isn't automatically the right shoe, either! The most important thing is choosing a shoe that is appropriate for your dancer, their class and their level.

Not sure what your dancer needs? Ask your teacher before purchasing, especially if they're starting a new style. We're always happy to point you in the right direction. We also have tons of shoes available for purchase in the studio so you might find what you need without any hassle. 💜

And remember—those little feet won't stay little forever, so there's no need to buy a shoe with lots of extra growing room. A good fit matters! 🩰

One of the things we love about dance is that there really is no “right” age to start—or to keep dancing!

From our youngest preschool dancers discovering movement for the first time, through to primary and teenage dancers developing their skills, and even adults who want to learn something new or simply enjoy moving to music, there is a place for everyone at Studio 58. 🩰✨

Our dancers can explore a range of styles including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Jazz Funk and Acro, with Stretch & Strength classes also available to support our dancers as they continue to develop.
