NSCCA 2026–27 Season Update
The 2026–27 cricket season is fast approaching, and there are still a number of important matters to be finalised before the season can get underway.
New Bylaws
The new NSCCA bylaws were published on Friday and are now available on the NSCCA website, NSCCA.info. These bylaws were submitted to, considered by, and subsequently approved by the clubs. All club presidents will have a copy.
Grading and Team Numbers
The Grading Committee has been working over the past few weeks, using the information available to develop a competition structure that is both fair and competitive.
A few days ago, there were 76 teams representing 18 clubs. This provided a structure of seven grades containing eight teams, plus two grades containing ten teams.
Unfortunately, one team has since withdrawn, which is something that unfortunately occurs almost every season. This now creates an opportunity for another team to enter the competition.
An odd number of teams creates an additional issue, as it means that at least one grade will have a bye each week. If there is a club that believes it may be able to enter an additional team, please contact Grant Manzoney or Trevor Kearsley as soon as possible.
Similarly, if any club is not 100% certain that it will be able to field its existing teams every week, it is important that Grant or Trevor are contacted immediately. It is far better to identify any potential problems now rather than after the fixtures have been prepared.
Fixtures and Grounds
The season is scheduled to commence on Saturday, October 3rd. At this stage, it appears that there may be a double-header required somewhere within the competition structure.
Before the fixtures can be prepared, all team numbers, grades and ground allocations need to be confirmed. Once these details are finalised, the fixtures can then be drawn up.
Final Preparations
As is often the case with cricket administration, many of the final details will inevitably come together in the lead-up to the opening round. However, the sooner any potential issues are identified, the easier it will be to resolve them without affecting the competition.
If your club has any questions, concerns or issues that may affect the coming season, please contact your Club President at your earliest convenience so that they can be addressed promptly.
With the season now only a few weeks away, everyone's cooperation will be important in ensuring that we are ready to start the 2026–27 season on October 3rd.
