Australia's newest LGBTQIA+friendly recreational sports community celebrating queerness and play

International Le***an Day, held on October 8, is a day for le****ns all over the world over to come together to celebrate le***an history, diversity and culture.

Recognised annually, the day gives an opportunity for women, families and friends to connect, celebrate and also raise awareness about the importance of community. Although the exact origin of the day remains uncertain, it almost certainly began in Australia/New Zealand. Some say the day began in 1980 when a Le***an Day March was held in New Zealand. The first Australian event was held at the Collingwood Town Hall in Melbourne on October 13, 1990.

We see many spots open up before week two for various reasons. We encourage you to join our WAITLIST! 🤩

🗣 2. Sign up to be a ref this season! Referee’s have flexible schedules, learn the rules, and are included in all team activities! It’s the best way to be a part of the league for those whose schedules may be limiting.

🙆🏽‍♀️ Women and gender diverse* registration is now open and closes 26th Sep 12PM. We’re committed to creating a fun and inclusive opportunity for everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community to connect, across all backgrounds and identities.

❓*What do you mean by ‘gender diverse’? Anyone who identifies outside the gender binary (man/woman). We welcome transgender, non-binary, agender and gender fluid folks.

Members of these communities can sign up with a friend when they join 😊

Throughout the years we’ve been inspired to see how our community comes together to support and elevate one another by creating safe spaces for young rainbow people to be themselves and feel accepted. 🏳️‍⚧️ 🏳️‍🌈 🩷

At Emerald City Kickball we believe in the importance these spaces have for us to express ourselves through inclusive, affirming and fun experiences. 💜

Join us today as we recognise and commemorate all rainbow people who actively take part in the building of the spaces we congregate and play at, and those who’re sadly no longer with us. May we all see the day where rainbow people no longer experience displacement or exclusion. 🩷 🌈
