Tag League Elite Pro-Series - Sydney Spring 2017 - Overview

SUTHERLAND TAG LEAGUE SPRING COMPETITION, 25% EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION DISCOUNTS STILL AVAILABLE

The Sutherland Tag League Spring 2017 Senior Season kicks off mid October. These full length competitions run for 14 weeks, take a break over Christmas, conclude in March. Registration costs from just $56.25 by taking advantage of the 25% Early Bird discount still available. Competitions are social, with Mens & Mixed Open plus Mixed U18 competitions offered. Games are played at Boystown Oval Engadine on Monday or Tuesday evenings, depending on your choice of day. You can register now via email or fax, or by attending one of the registration nights. Tag League Referee Accreditation Courses The Tag League Association provides free referee accreditation courses for people interested in becoming a referee. Courses are scheduled regularly. Persons interested in attending need to register their interest.

STATE OF ORIGIN 3 CONTEST – CONSOLATION PRIZE WINNER

Thanks to everyone who participated in our final State of Origin contest for 2017. The score for Origin 3 was a tough one to pick, as no one managed to correctly nominate the winning scoreline. There were 19 people who did pick Queensland 22, of those 8 had NSW winning with a higher score, 11 had Queensland winning but with an incorrect NSW score. The person with the closest pick was John Lee who plays in the team Street Taggers in Division 1 of the Tuesday night Mixed Open competition at Fairfield. John guessed Qld 22 to NSW 10. For his efforts we will award John a Consolation Prize of $100 Cash. That brings the total cash we have paid out for this State of Origin Series to $1,600, with $500 paid out in Origin 1 and another $1,000 paid out in Origin 2. Congratulations to all our Winners.

STATE OF ORIGIN 2 CONTEST – 3 HAPPY WINNERS!

The score for Origin 2 was obviously easier to pick, with 3 people guessing the correct score and winner. Interestingly, the average score chosen by all participants was 16-18 with NSW as winner, but as we all know, the Cane Toads won. The 3 people who correctly guessed the score and winning team are Kavin Nham, Pena Togi & Madeline Clarke. Kavin & Pena have both played previously in the Liverpool or Fairfield competitions, Madeline is the Captain of Game of Tags, currently playing in the Monday Mixed Open competition at Fairfield. The total prize pool available for our Origin 2 Contest was $1,000, so the 3 winners will each pocket $333 which will be paid directly into their bank accounts. Congratulations to our winners. There will be one last chance to win when we run our State of Origin 3 contest in a few weeks time.

STATE OF ORIGIN 1 CONTEST - 72 YEAR OLD GRANDMOTHER WINS !

You read correctly, a Grandmother named Janice aged 72 from Bonnyrigg Heights was the only winner in our State of Origin 1 contest. By her own confession, Janice only watches the football because her grandson hogs the TV. Her granddaughter Jessica is the delegate of the team called Tag Me Outside playing in Division 2 of the Mixed Open competition at Fairfield on Tuesday nights. Jessica encouraged Janice to enter the competition given it was free. Janice advises us she has never done something like this before, entering an online competition, & is thrilled to have won. Janice collects a cool $500 for her effort. There will be follow up contests for State of Origin 2 & 3, so hopefully there will be other happy winners.

NEW SYDNEY CITY TAG LEAGUE COMPETITION LAUNCHED

The Tag League Association has launched a new competition to service the Sydney CBD area. Commencing in late March, Sydney City Tag League will kick of at the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence (NCIE) at Redfern. Senior Mixed & Mens Competitions are being offered playing on Monday nights between 6.30pm & 9.30pm.
