Trying to take video and photos of Fred (Fourth Edition)...almost impossible!

Today has been interesting...to say the least!
Thank you to Dr Katie and Claire for coming to our aid when we needed it. Paris decided to stab one eye with a stick (goodness knows how, but she is a horse!).
It was pretty obvious that the eye was badly damaged.
Dr Katie and Claire were on scene as quickly as they could attend: removal of the eye deemed necessary.
What followed was an emergency procedure that was faultless.
While Dr Katie performed the surgery, Claire was the theatre nurse, and we were charged with the task of keeping Paris' foal away from the vet team, while also wrangling the other youngsters in the paddock...who just wanted to lend a hand.
Paris is now up, wearing a fly veil, suitably drugged and happily grazing.
The filly has confirmed that she is spicy, kicking out at any horse who came near her recumbent mother, while allowing the vet team to do their job.
What was traumatic was made less so by our wonderful vets.
Thank you Swans Veterinary Services..we would be lost without you!
(The coloured stuff in Paris' face is partly a conglomeration of fly repellent substances. And there was some bleeding during surgery...she is a grey horse!)

And another new introduction.
Paris and filly foal.
We were going to call it Last Edition, but I am not sure that we can keep her separated from her friend Cuffy for too long!
Given her attitude to life, she is more likely to be named Spice Girl!
Only a couple of hours old in this pic, born in the worst part of last weekend's bad weather.

Fawkes...an update from Justin Hardy (thank you!) Such a joy to see this.

After eight days on the ground, it might be safe now to say that our equine family has been increased by two.
After a season of fillies, we now have two boys!
Slingshot's much awaited offspring, not yet formally named, but long awaited! (Great Expectations, Told You So...
But Mareeka Coward has a list of suggestions (she has had plenty of time to consider nomenclature!)
And the lovely Bella (Jazmo), whose c**t is spectacular, also not named (we have already bred a Beau!), but who I am calling Romeo.
Three more to go.
Sleep beckons...
