Our Senior Women work hard all year round, leading the way and showing what strength, power and commitment to health and fitness look like. 💪

They put in a solid session last night at Unity Health, Tullamarine. A big thank you to the team there for putting the women through their paces, and to Aleesha for organising it.

We’ll be back! 🏋️‍♀️

🔵 🌟2027 COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT – U16 GIRLS 🔵🌟

We’re thrilled to announce Stephen “Saddo” Saddington is going round again as our Under 16 Girls Coach for 2027.

Steve brings an enormous amount of senior playing and coaching experience to Douttas.

🏉 As a player, Steve enjoyed a highly successful career with Northcote Park, where he was a club captain, dual premiership player and Best & Fairest winner, as well as earning selection in the NFL Division 1 Coaches’ Team of the Year.

📋 As a coach, his experience includes:
• Playing Assistant Coach at North Heidelberg
• Two-time Division 2 Premiership Coach at North Heidelberg – 2014 & 2017
• Senior Coach of Northcote Park from 2021–2023
• Multiple nominations for Northern Region Senior Coach of the Year

Not to mention Douttas u14 and u16 girls coach for the last 2 years.

Steve brings a fantastic footy brain, decades of experience at senior level and, most importantly, a genuine passion for helping young footballers develop and enjoy their footy.

To have someone with Steve’s experience investing his time into the next generation of female footballers at Douttas is fantastic for our program.

We can’t wait to see what Saddo and the girls can achieve together in 2027.

💛💙 Welcome back Saddo! 💛💙

⭐️ COACH ANNOUNCEMENT - U16 DIVISION 1 – 2027 ⭐️

We’re excited to confirm Sam Tankard will lead our U16 Division 1 side in 2027, supported by Assistant Coach Jesse Kirk.

Sam brings an enormous amount of football experience — 330 games for Doutta Stars, including the 1998 & 1999 premierships, two league goal-kicking awards and six club leading goal-kicker awards.

His coaching résumé is just as impressive:

🏆 2023 EDS U14 Premiership Coach
🔵 U16 Coach – 2024 to 2026
🏉 Senior Coach – Taylors Lakes, 2015–2018
⭐️Former EDS Senior Assistant, Reserves Coach & Director of Coaching
💛 Owner, Shining Stars Coaching Academy

Joining Sam as Assistant Coach is Jesse Kirk, one of our senior players who brings valuable recent experience of the pathway our young players are working towards. Jesse played Division 1 throughout his juniors, progressed to Western Jets level, played Premier Division U18 football and has already experienced senior footy.

Together, Sam and Jesse bring a great combination of experience, development knowledge and current playing insight.

For ambitious U16 players wanting to challenge themselves, improve their football and play high-quality Division 1 footy for an inclusive and welcoming club, we’re building an exciting program at Douttas for 2027.
