We have the opportunity to optimise our egg health, s***m health and fertility before we ever start trying for a baby.

We can influence how we conceive, how our embryo develops, the health and wellbeing of our future child, how we experience pregnancy and aspects of how we recover in our postpartum.

And it all starts in the months and years leading up to conception.

This is why I’m so passionate about preconception care, because this is your greatest window of opportunity and so many people don’t utilise it.

There are never any guarantees, but why not impact the things you can control when there is so much you can influence.

So optimise what you can, nourish your body, improve your health.
Prepare together as a couple!

Then surrender to the process and let go of the things you cannot control.

If you’re hoping to have a baby in the next year, this is exactly what I’ll be teaching inside the Preconception Protocol.

There are only 3 months left of this year, and interestingly, 3 months is the minimum timeframe we recommend for preconception care.

If starting a family is part of your plan for 2027, now is the perfect time to start laying the foundations.

3 habits I’d start this week:

1. Prioritise sleep
Sleep is one of the most underrated tools for supporting hormone health, recovery and overall wellbeing.

2. Start tracking your menstrual cycle
Learn when you’re ovulating by tracking cervical mucus and basal body temperature. Your cycle can tell you so much about your health and fertility.

I’ve partnered with Tempdrop and you can use code AFNOURISHEDWITHCHLOE for 10% off.
Their device makes it so much easier and more consistent to track your basal body temp.

3. Balance your blood sugar levels
Think protein-rich breakfasts, regular meals and snacks, and building meals around protein, healthy fats, complex carbs and fibre to support stable energy and hormone health.

Small actions taken consistently over the next 3 months can make a big difference for you and your future child.

A conversation that could change the course of your life too and one that I think is incredibly valuable and important.
And what comes next is just as important.

If you’re having that conversation with your partner or with yourself or a dear friend if you’re going it alone, than know that the window before you conceive, whether you’re doing in the old fashioned way or via assisted technologies is incredible important.

Preconception care matters and I’ll shout it from the roof tops.

It was never that simple and it’s actually mind blowing how it all works.

But no one really explained how our bodies work let alone how our hormones do.
No one taught us how ovulation works and that the window in which we can conceive is actually really small.
Or how nutrition, stress, sleep and our lifestyle can influence our periods, hormones, fertility.

And when you start trying, it can feel confusing, overwhelming and sometimes really lonely.

That’s exactly why I do what I do and why I created The Preconception Protocol.

Moments that made my heart happy this August.
And many more I’ll treasure for myself.

It’s been a tough Winter and a tough few months. And I don’t think I’m the only one who is grateful to have it behind them.

So many sweet moments, big and very small to be grateful for and so grateful to live where we do and have the community we have.

The fresh new energy of Spring has bought with it a much needed lightness and freshness. Acknowledging the dark but turning to the light and welcoming its warmth.

I hope September reminds you of all the beauty there is and that the light always returns. Big love xx

If I was thinking about having a baby in the next year or so, these are the nutrients I would be paying attention to…

Because pregnancy and growing a tiny human from scratch is incredibly energy and resource intensive so we want to supporting ourselves well before that chapter begins.

The nutrients I would focus on;
Protein
Iron
Omega 3’s
Choline
Folate
Iodine
Vitamin D
Fibre

The pre - conceiving period is where we assess, identify gaps and lay solid foundations so our bodies are incredibly well resourced before pregnancy.

You don’t need to figure this out on your own, that’s what I’m here for!

And why I’m creating The Preconception Protocol - a program and community for you to prepare for pregnancy with clarity, confidence and feeling so supported.

You have so much influence in the choices you make every day. I know it can be challenging to make certain choices but even something, like eating more fruit and vegetables in your day can be an incredibly effective way at improving your health and therefore tour chances of conceiving.

If you don’t have access to fresh fruit and vegetables, than go for frozen, they still count 🙌🏽😘

Your preconception period, the time before conceiving matters.
