Well. What can we say about our Open Extendeds?
Our two teams served as beautiful bookends for an incredible competition on Sunday. After some eleventh-hour shuffling, Team Fairfield City opened the competition and set a very high bar, while Team Fairfield City/Baulkham Hills brought it all home with a delightful sixth place performance.
The 2026 physie year has been just a little bit busy for this group, with a wedding, a honeymoon, a beautiful new bubba, two uni graduations, new jobs, long hours, house moves, overseas travel, raising families, injuries, illnesses and more. Despite everything else going on in their lives, this gorgeous bunch still found the time to commit to each other and put together two quality performances, taking every hurdle in their stride and adapting to every on-the-fly change without hesitation. We could not be more proud of our glow-in-the-dark wonder women and the way they show up for each other, week after week, year after year!
A huge thank you to our Open Seniors, Annalise and Erin, who joined our Extended classes each week and learned the extra syllabus to help get these teams on the floor. Thank you also to Lisa, Carly and Leanne from Baulkham Hills who joined forces with us - those who've been around physie for a while will know that these three started their physie careers at Fairfield RSL (as we were known once upon a time!), and it was an immense joy to have them represent us one more time.
We were also beautifully represented in the Open Extended individual competition by Alexandria, Cassandra and Elise. All three did an incredible job in both rounds of performance, with our pocket rocket Elise snagging a ticket to the National Grand Final. Well done! ✨️
Whew - big weekend! Now for a well-deserved rest before our Open Advanced individual competition in two weeks' time. See you there!
