Congratulations to our Year 8 Gold team, who played in the Grand Final last night.

They didn’t come away with a win, however it was a close game, losing only by a couple of goals.

It’s always a great achievement making the grand final. Well done, boys! You played a great game and did the club proud!

Two more grand finals tomorrow (Sunday).

First up is our Year 9 Gold team, playing at 9:30 at Rushton Park North.

Followed by our Year 11/12 Blue, playing on the main oval at Rushton Park at 2:30pm.

Our year 6 team, Falcon Flyers, took out the championship last night in a resounding win, in the first Super Sixes Tournament!

Super Sixes Inaugural Tournament - Team Gold Strike

Over the past couple of weeks, our SMJFC Gold Strike team has competed in the Super Sixes Tournament organised by WA Football.

The competition has been a fantastic opportunity for our players to experience the format they’ll be moving into next season, including playing on a larger ground, learning new rules and testing themselves against some really strong opposition.

Across the tournament, Gold Strike played six games, coming away with four wins and two losses to finish third overall. While our tournament journey has now come to an end, we couldn’t be prouder of this group.

The biggest highlight wasn’t just the results, it was the growth we saw in the players from game one to game six. Their teamwork, confidence, ball movement and understanding of the game continued to improve each week. They took on every challenge, supported one another and competed hard right until the end.

Coming up against some very strong teams gave our players exactly the experience this tournament was designed for, and they should all be incredibly proud of what they achieved.

Congratulations to every player in Gold Strike. Four wins, a third place finish and plenty of great footy along the way but the growth and development shown by this group is what we are most proud of.

We look forward to getting behind our Falcon Flyer team on Wednesday night.

Super Sixes Tournament Success for SMJFC - Falcon Flyers

Over the past couple of weeks, our Club has had two teams compete in the inaugural Super Sixes Tournament organised by WA Football.

This is an exciting competition designed to help players transition into next season's format, including playing on a larger ground and adapting to several new rules.

After progressing through the round robin stage with just one loss, the Falcon Flyers earned a place in the Pool Grand Final against the very team that handed them that defeat, Mundijong Centrals, Navy. Having already experienced their opponent's strong ball movement, physicality and skill, the team entered the match with a clear understanding of what was needed to turn the result around, albeit with only 14 players being available on game day, leaving no bench to rotate through.

South Mandurah Falcon Flyers produced an outstanding first half, playing with confidence and purpose. Their willingness to run, use the ball effectively and make the most of their opportunities in front of goal saw them build a strong start. Accurate kicking and excellent teamwork were key highlights of the performance.

The second half proved to be a tough contest, with both sides battling hard. However, the team's determination, relentless tackling pressure and ability to control the tempo of the game allowed them to hold their advantage and ultimately secure a well-deserved 19 point victory.

The journey isn't over yet. On Wednesday night, the team will travel to Franklin Reserve, Hammond Park to take on the winner of Pool C, The Bombing Parky Demons at 7pm.

This will be a fantastic opportunity to compete against a team from another region, test themselves against different opposition and continue learning as they prepare for next season. The players are excited, motivated and ready to embrace the challenge.

A huge thank you goes to our parents, volunteers and the entire SMJFC club for their ongoing support and allowing our team to compete in this competition.

First finals game of the weekend but unfortunately they didn’t get the win they wanted. It being an elimination final means the end of their season. Next year, boys!

A strong win by the 11/12 Blue takes them straight to the Grand Final. The loss for the 11/12 Gold means they get another opportunity this coming weekend in Waroona. Good luck, boys!

It was absolutely freezing Wednesday evening at Lakelands for the final regular round of the Super Sixes tournament! Both our Year 6 Blue and Year 6 Gold teams braved the cold and played two games each!

So proud of all the players for getting out there, giving it their all and representing our club.
