Over the years, Neil “Taffy” Smith has been a social member and regularly practised on our greens when he lived locally.
But in 2026/27, things are a little different… Taffy is officially ALL IN!
Taffy has committed to The Gully for Pennant Season 2026/27, bringing with him an incredible 48 years of bowls experience and an impressive playing career spanning Wales and Australia.
And he won’t just be bringing that experience onto the green. Taffy is keen to work with members of all levels through coaching, drills and sharing some of the knowledge he has picked up over nearly five decades in the game.
We’re excited to have Taffy officially pulling on The Gully colours and becoming part of our Pennant campaign.

Matt is certainly no stranger to Ferntree Gully Bowling Club. He has previously joined us for Social Bowls, played Night Pennant with The Gully last season, and is a regular on the tournament circuit alongside friends from our club.

We’re thrilled that Matt has now committed to Ferntree Gully for the 2026/27 Pennant season and look forward to seeing him in the green and white.
