6 years of JS Muay Thai ❤️

6 years ago, JS Muay Thai started with one simple goal: to create more opportunities for women to experience Muay Thai.

Back then, we didn't have a gym. We travelled around Melbourne running our 8 Week How to Muay Thai 101 for beginners helping women take their very first steps into the sport.

3 years ago, we opened the doors to our own home.

Since then, we've grown from 2 coaches to a team of 9, all sharing the same passion and vision. Every coach who has joined us has helped shape the community that JS Muay Thai is today, and we're incredibly grateful to have them on this journey with us.

Although we've grown, our mission hasn't changed.

This year, that journey reached another milestone with JSMT CROWN, our first women-only professional Muay Thai promotion.

It hasn't always been easy. Running a small business comes with plenty of challenges, and there have been many moments where we've had to adapt, learn and keep moving forward.

But one thing has never changed: our belief in what we're building.

To every member who has trusted us, every coach who has shared their knowledge, every supporter who has cheered us on, and everyone who has been part of our journey over the last 6 years... thank you.

Because of you, we're not just growing a gym.

We're growing women's Muay Thai 🖤

🥊 OPEN SPARRING DAY #6 + JS MUAY THAI 6 YEAR ANNIVERSARY 🎉

Sunday 6 September 2026.

We’re inviting women from gyms across Melbourne to join us for a women only open sparring session celebrating women’s Muay Thai, empowerment and community.

For this special event, we’ll begin with a Wai Kru workshop led by one of our coaches. You’ll have the opportunity to learn and practise Wai Kru, connect with the traditions and culture of Muay Thai, and enjoy a great warm up before sparring.

Then we’ll all spar together on the mats at the same time and rotate partners throughout the session. It’s an opportunity to experience different styles, practise your skills, challenge yourself and connect with other women in Muay Thai.

Women from all gyms and all experience levels are welcome. Come represent your gym, share some rounds and support the growth of women’s Muay Thai together.

✨ EVENT SCHEDULE ✨

10am - Wai Kru workshop
10.30am - 12.00 pm - Open sparring session
12pm - Thai food and shared plates

Not sparring? You’re still welcome to join the lunch. Coaches, friends, family and partners are all welcome to come along from 12pm for some food. Bring a plate to share and celebrate with us!

The sparring session is limited to only 30 participants, so book your spot as soon as possible. Registration fee: $30 per person. Link in our bio!

6th year of JS Muay Thai. 6 Open Sparring Days we've held. Come to celebrate the growth of women’s Muay Thai and show what it looks like when we support one another ❤️

Happy Birthday to an incredible coach, mentor, and human being, Coach Som!

Thank you for everything you do, not just as a coach, but for the way you inspire, challenge, and believe in the people around you. You have a way of bringing out the best in others and reminding us that we are capable of so much more than we think.

Thank you for always encouraging people to use their voice, stand up for what they believe in, and never shrink themselves just to make others comfortable. You remind us that we should never lower ourselves, dim our light, or compromise who we are just to fit into someone else’s expectations.

Keep inspiring, keep challenging, and most importantly, keep being unapologetically YOU.

Wishing you the happiest birthday, Som! We’re so lucky to have you in our corner.

Here’s to another year of growth, purpose, big dreams and making an impact on everyone ❤️

And that's a wrap on In-House Sparring Day ❤️ Well done and thank you to everyone who participated today.

People often think this day is about seeing who's the best or that it's only for people who want to compete.

It's not.

Sparring is just the vehicle.
Confidence is the outcome.
Community is the reason people stay.

Every woman who stepped up today had a different reason for being there. Some might want to compete in the future. Some just wanted to challenge themselves. Some are rebuilding after a difficult chapter in life. Some just needed an outlet. And some wanted to prove to themselves that they could do something that scared them.

Whatever your reason is, it belongs here.

The confidence you build in the gym doesn't stay in the gym. It follows you into your everyday life. Into your work, your relationships, motherhood, difficult conversations, and everything else life throws at you.

Thank you to everyone who participated today, everyone who cheered from the sidelines, and everyone who helped create the safe, supportive environment we're so proud of 💗🙏

🥊 UPDATED CARD!

Here are the bouts for our In-House Sparring Day this Sunday!

Please note that the bouts are subject to change without notice based on circumstances on the day.

📅 Sunday 2 August
⏰ First bout starts at 10am
💰 Registration: $30 per person

A friendly reminder that this is not a competition. There are no winners or losers.

You may be matched with someone who has more or less experience than you, and that's completely okay. The goal isn't to prove who's better. It's to challenge yourself, build confidence, put your training into practice, and help each other improve.

Let's keep it safe, respectful, and supportive. Cheer everyone on, enjoy the experience, and most importantly, have fun.

JS Muay Thai members are welcome to come along and support your teammates! Your encouragement means a lot and helps create the amazing community we're proud of.

See you all on Sunday! 👊
