💚 Volunteers of the Month 💚
This month we recognise Mark Thompson who embodies the spirit of Forest Rugby — commitment, community and teamwork. Thank you for the time, energy and passion you bring to our club and players each week. 🏉
👉What roles do you fulfill at Forest?
I've coached our son's under 13 team since they were under 6s. In the last couple of years, I’ve also been coaching girls' tri-tag and rugby 7s.
And just this year, I’ve taken the role of the junior club’s player and coaches development coordinator. I’m happy to arrange specialist coaches or other resources for teams - just hit me up.
👉What brought you to Forest?
When he was 5, our son used to attend karate class up the hill from the ground. He’d come out of class and be obsessed with the game. We’ve had both of our daughters play for Forest in past seasons as well.
👉What's your favourite thing about the club?
The family vibe, bustle, and warmth of the clubhouse on a Wednesday night.
Also, I love that we have support from the senior club. Forest is somewhat unique in that it has senior men’s and women’s teams, and there are well-trodden pathways for our juniors to progress.
👉Favourite team?
Wallabies, Wallaroos, Women’s and Men’s Aussie 7s.
👉Favourite player?
Piper Duck, Will Skelton, and the Levi sisters from the 7s
👉Any favourite rugby quote?
"Into ‘em, basically. Umm up the guts, and then err yeah swing it wide, and ah in the corner.” Nick “the Honey Badger” Cummins when asked about his philosophy on attack.
