This morning we lost our good friend Roger Budz ā€œBudzyā€ having succumb to numerous health issues after the stroke he suffered at the 2024 Forest Rally.

Budzy first came into rallying after he spectated at an AMC event, when the start and car park stage was in the Midland Shopping Centre car park.

He immediately got into helping on rallies and did the occasional co-driving. His favourite saying he was ā€œDenis Robertā€ trained, which then became that others were Budz Trained. He assisted many new people into the sport, in particular our faithful Setters and Mobile Safety Teams. He would tell them, ā€œI am not your ā€œMotherā€, get your Registrations In.ā€

Budzy was the backbone of the Forest Rally stages, doing the bunt list, finding Setters, booking their accommodation, clearing the roads, then putting up the arrows and caution boards and water barriers. Then he would go 000 on the rally and then go back out and pull it all down.

He did the same on many other rallies, always organised and couldnā€™t understand why others werenā€™t as well.

We will miss his laughter, friendship and the occasional blast which was normally deserved.

RIP Budzy

His funeral and wake details will be announced when they are finalised .

Any Manjimup / Bridgetown locals have copies of the Manjimup Bridgetown Times from 8th July, 15th July and 22nd July?

We'd love to get printed copies of the adverts we ran promoting this weekends ARC Plant Hire Karri Rally, Round 4 of the Steelweld WA Rally Championship.

(Thanks to Tiff & Scott B for putting the artwork together and to Tim Allott for allowing use of his photo.)
