Delacombe Park Cricket Clubs Past Players Page has been set up to provide information and discussion relating to the many past members who have played their cricket in the Maroon and Gold. Notifications about reunions, annual get togethers and anything that may be of interest to all current and previous members of Delacombe Park Cricket Club will be posted. Additionally, old photos, newspaper clippings and general interest pieces are encouraged to be posted to provide an insight, jog a few memories, and make fun of the guys who were, and always will be a part of our clubs proud history.

Vale Josh Gurney

Delacombe Park Cricket Club was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former player and member Josh Gurney after a short battle with illness.

Josh was an attacking opening batsman and wicketkeeper who represented the club in the lower grades during the early 2000s and was a popular member of the club.

Josh’s greatest cricketing achievement came in the 2002/03 season, when he won the Max Shields Medal as the club’s best and fairest player.

One of the great stories from that night was that Josh didn’t even attend the presentation. He was relaxing at home when he received a frantic phone call from the Club President, urging him to get down to the function as he was leading the medal count. Josh arrived just in time to accept the award, finishing a remarkable five votes clear of the field.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Josh’s family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him during this incredibly difficult time.
