Let's talk about the Core.
The core is our body major stabliser which protects the spine from injury. Having a weak inactive core is basically like having a length of chain with links missing out of it ๐ often causing disfunctional movement patterns as forces often are transfered through the core from the ground up and vise versa.
The key to having a nice strong core is about becoming more aware with how it actually moves through the 5 movement patterns below and then programing exercisers that compliment these movements
1.) Hip Extension
2.) Hip Flexion
3.) Side Hip Flexion
4.) Rotation
5.) Anti Bracing
In this video I'm using the TRX Suspension Trainer throughout these movements, but these can also be performed with other functional training tools to keep the body always guessing ๐ง.
Make sue to incorporate them into your next workout and your body will perform as a unit instead of a sum of broken parts.

What has helped me stay in the game for so long is not so much about finding about who I am, but more so about finding who I am not...
I personally think a lot of PTโs these days really struggle identifying this and thats one of the main reasons why so many trainers only lasts a couple of years (If that) in the fitness industry...
Itโs a journey to say the least and it has taken me at least 5 years experiencing many different styles of training and ongoing education to be congruent and comfortable with what I was actually coaching and โwhyโ I was actually coaching it to my clients.

When it comes to programming we like to implement movement patterns such as hinge, push, squat, row, lunge and rotate etc over just your random exercises.
The purpose behind this is to structure the program to help develop key foundations first before complexity and progression is added later on down the track.

GLUTES ๐
Are the biggest muscle group in the body yet the most inactive in majority of individuals.
Why???
Due to a large amount of the population living stationary lifestyles and sit down jobs our poor old GLUTES are often switched off causing our anterior chain (front of body) to become over active. Another common issue why the your GLUTES are not working is often caused by sequencing issues where muscles such as the quadriceps and hamstrings are so dominate causing incorrect firing patterns.
To get those GLUTES of yours working make sure to give these 2 TRX exercisers a go ๐

Repeat either exercise 3 rounds of 10-12 reps with 60 seconds rest in between making sure to squeeze GLUTES at top of movement and avoiding any unnecessary arching throughout the lower back.

DO SIMPLE BETTER!
When it comes to programming the for clients we look no further than the big 6 movements such as the hinge, plank, squat, row, lunge and rotate which are always our no 1 starting point here at EFP. Often in many large group fitness classes this approach tends to get forgotten about with increased load and complexity causing movement deficiencies and also lack of motor control throughout these movement patterns.
If someone canโt properly perform fundamental motor patterns using just their own body weight itโs not really a good idea to add load to that specific movement ๐ค
