How have we begun week2 at Christian College in the Elevate program?

Goal setting and Journaling-

Physical activity boosts cognitive function
Reviews of studies show that physical activity is positively related to academic performance, with regular activity linked to improvements in attention, memory and cognition.

Fruit- Toast

What This Means Practically
✅ Healthy morning meals — like fruit with yoghurt, whole-grain toast or combinations including fruit and protein — are backed by research as beneficial for cognition and school performance.

✅ Morning physical activity — whether a walk, bike ride to school, exercise session or active play — is also linked to better focus and school performance.

Together, these habits can help set up a child’s energy, attention, motivation and memory for the school day.

This is a program designed to help encourage young athletes/students to start planning out their future and what they are wanting to achieve, making sure they move, fuel their body and mind, helping both on court and their future…

Our lesson today was- NEVER SAY I CAN’T DO THIS!

During the session today, our young girls took a moment to work on-

• Physicality- it’s ok to make some contact
• Establishing ground- don’t push/shove or exhaust yourself
• Stepping between the defenders feet
(Most the time a defender will naturally take a step back)
• Hands up to show the referee we are not pushing off

when you have the defender under the basket and you are comfortable, turning to get the ball, sealing the defender on our back, attacking the basket for an easy 2points.

Done correctly it’s an easy 🪣 125% of the time!

“The standard you allow is the standard you set!”

This seems to be quickly becoming the standard our athletes are accustomed to, regardless of the outcomes on the court- they going to WIN at life!

If that happens our job is done!

11.30-1pm “FULL COURT” session $40pp

We will also be opening Mid week sessions both in the morning and afternoon out of our Carbon North Geelong site- will be looking g for group of 3-5 wanting to work weekdays. Warm up- on court session

D-League Academy is excited to announce in 2026 our program is being offered to Christian College students.

Are you ready to take your game to the next level?

CCG Sport Faculty Student-Athlete elite development Program is designed for players aiming to ‘ELEVATE’ their training and progression in Basketball pathways.

This holistic development Program is powered by ‘D League’ Basketball Academy - Head Coach Jeremy Diamond. If you are a student an email has been sent out, for those interested be quick as spots are limited.

Before school sessions that offer, Culture, fitness, strength, body movement, journaling, goal setting, skill, nutrition, a network of coaches who are all willing to pass on what we know to the next generation of athletes & more.

We are excited for the growth of our program and what is coming in 2026 and beyond.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported our program as we continue to evolve into the future.

Tuesday & Thursday this week: Holiday Program

Location: Court North Geelong Facility 5

Time:
10am-12pm

Cost: $60pp this incs the Vold Sprint testing ONLY

These sessions are NOT a fun daycare camp-
These will have:

Warm Ups
Balance
Fitness
Strength
On Court skills
VOLD sprint testing (Normally $80)

The sessions are small group only and are suitable for 10-18yrs old. (We do not lift heavy weights)

With the addition of (3) D-League Masters Teams next season, we have added a Masters Session.

Term4 Friday Nights are for those over 30 who want to get the basketball back in their hands, let out some frustrations of the week OR looking to start the weekend off right!

6.30 Friday nights we have added a 30+ Session that will be aligned time wise with the NEW “FULL COURT Session”

When the numbers grow we will even move into a scrimmage and possibly finish with a cold drink 🍺

It’s a good opportunity to meet others, have some fun, improve fitness and remain healthy!

As of tomorrow ALL “FULL COURT” athletes we will be adding a new level to our program.

Each athlete will receive a notebook and pen- this is the responsibility of the athletes!

What will be expected: examples

5-10mins prior & conclusion of training-
What’s something I am going to focus on this training session?
What am I aiming to improve this session?
What is something I learned this session?
What’s something I need to work on to improve?
During this session, what % of effort do I feel I trained with?
I did ………… well!
I need to do ………… better!

We will have a discussion on key focus areas of our training session, we would also like our athletes to use these with their games as well: what’s something I did well- what can I improve etc.

For those coming tomorrow please be at training 11.15am to collect a notepad and start documenting your basketball progress.

I might be a coach and you are in my care for 1-3hrs a week, but you will need to keep yourself accountable for the remainder of your week.
