A ONE-STOP Saturday Netball Program! Children between the ages of 5 and 15 have the opportunity to develop their Netball skills as a PLAYER, COACH or UMPIRE!

Kardinia Park Netball Development Competition runs every Saturday morning in line with the School terms (or there about). Beginning at 9am and concluding at 11am. Parents are encouraged to be a part of the program and develop their skills as a coach, come along and enjoy a coffee and meet with other parents. The skills the children develop by playing a team sport are unlike anything else on offer.

One of our coaches Carla watched the Australian Diamonds in Melbourne tonight. She was lucky to get her photo taken with Sophie Garbin from Melbourne Vixen.

Joan Hepworth

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Joan Hepworth – since 1994, a former Vice President of the Bellarine & District Netball Association Inc, 2006 Life Member, 2009 Distinction Award, Panel Umpire, Netball Victoria Tester, trainee umpire mentor, avid supporter & Coach of our NetSetGo program inspiring young players to play netball and gave countless hours to nurturing players, Interleague & Master’s representative umpire and representing Bellarine at the Barwon Netball Region State Championships.

Joan was passionate about trainee umpire programs and continued to produce umpires to compliment the B&DNA trainee umpire program. Joan a C grade Umpire herself continued to train & worked hard to achieve her National B grade badge awarded by AA Umpire testers Val Morrison & Dorothy Elmer.

Joan’s loyalties to her Association wanted nothing more than to see it continued its strong history.

Joan was also a President of her club, Torquay, Life member, Umpire Co-ordinator, Treasurer, mentor of trainee umpires and tireless volunteer. Tuesday night Umpire & competition Co-ordinator at the Surfworld Indoor competition as well as after school care & kindergarten teacher.

Her leadership and love of the game touched so many leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire for many years.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Husband Brian, Son Mark, Daughter Robyn, grandchildren & her Father Frank, the extended Hepworth & Austin families at this very sad time.

Rest peacefully Joan – and thank you for everything you gave to our netball family, you will be in our hearts forever. ❤️💙💛

A few weeks ago, one of our life members was given the honour of having a space named after her at the Torquay Netball Club; where she is also a life member.

The following post was shared on the TNC socials:

Introducing: The Joan Hepworth Umpire Rooms

Joan Hepworth is more than a Life Member. She’s a past president, former umpire coordinator, dedicated mentor and one of the driving forces behind the umpire pathways we still follow today.

Joan was joined at the unveiling by her daughter Robyn, grandchildren Lilly and Jude, her sister Sally, and many family and friends. Standing proudly beside her - as always - was her husband Brian, who shared these heartfelt words:

“Joan didn’t just umpire - she played, led, coached, inspired. She became club president and helped build what is now a strong, proud and successful club. Her dedication earned her life membership, but it was never about the titles – it was always about the game, the people and giving others a chance to shine.”

From all of us at Torquay Netball Club — thank you, Joan. We’re so proud to honour your legacy.

Even as coaches we believe there is always room for improvement - one of our coaches Carla attended a training session with Melbourne Vixens defender Emily Mannix during the holidays.
