Special shout-out to our friends at the GenU agency who looked after our team over the past few seasons. Sadly the partnership has come to an end but we give thanks for all the efforts and time invested into us all, as individuals and as a team. Cheers ladies!! ๐๐ฅฐ๐
P.S.....The page name/re-brand (might end up being a new page) is in progress.

Great to see our good mates Kane and Damo from The Power In You Project at Sportshare today.
The boys picked up some bikes for their drop-in centre in Geelong and met with Pete and Rhan to map out a new partnership for the Reclink Geelong footy team.
I see premiership flags on the horizon at G-town!

Grand Final Wrap. Reclink Australia Victorian Football and Cricket Leagues.
A big day out in the Big Smoke. ETU Stadium (home of the Port Melbourne VFL Team) is hosting the Reclink Grand Finals series and we are featured on Day 2, Match 3, with the block-buster match-up of Collingwood Magpies vs GenU Cats Football Group Geelong. These are the two best-performed teams of the year and a worthy finale match to our season.
Some late-season injuries and outs sees us go into the match missing some midfield guns (Jaykeb, Jas and Matty) and star power up forward (Lachie and Karlie). Some last-minute recruiting gives us plenty of rotation options off the bench - thanks to Burty, Scotty, Zac, Dillan, Maryanne, Richie, Joey, CJ and Kane for helping out at various stages of the match. A host of celebrities are on deck, including Billy Brownless in the rooms, and thereโs a good vibe all around. A few of our guys have played a quarter or two in the preceding match (Reclink All Stars).
Q1 โ The Pies get off to a fast start and slam on a couple of quick goals. Some good forward pressure from Brayden, Johnno and Oscar sets up our first goal through a long CJ set-shot from half-forward. But Collingwood reply with multiple goals and take a 32 point lead into the first break. A few big tackles in that quarter from Jack, Deano and Kane, but itโs being left to too few and we are missing our usual midfield grunt.
Q2 โ Joseph Jas and Matty swing a few changes and we bring a better attitude out for the second term. Pixie is working nicely into the match and gets involved in a coast-to-coast goal starting with Harley and ending in a nice snap from the pocket by Johnno. A quick reply from the Pies but the Cats bounce back with repeated forward entries and great pressure from Beau, Scotty and Richie results in a classy goal to Ben. Burty, Zac and Dillan are providing good cover down back and at half-time I think its Pies by 33. (Thereโs a few glitches in the Facebook replay so some of this is โbest guessโ stuff!)
Q3 โ Simmo reads the riot act at half-time (in a good way) and we believe weโre still in the game. Pete thrown into the midfield with immediate impact, but turnovers are still hurting us and the poise of the Magpies is evident across most positions. Joey and Maryanne provide some different forward options, and combine but are unlucky to not hit the scoreboard. Some big contests on the memberโs wing with Oscar, Deano, Simmo and Pixie outnumbering the Pies and eventually working the ball forward to Zac and a long shot from Jack is just missing. Itโs โTake 2โ a few minutes later though, with Pete and Johnno combining and a wrap-around handball to Jack who slots a โgoal of the dayโ contender from the outer flank. Meanwhile Jayden is everywhere with his trademark unrewarded running. Some more repeat forward entries with Chris and Beau involved but we canโt crack the Pies defence. Everyone is giving their all and some great courage from Brayden, Jack and Deano to continue through injuries and illness. I think itโs Pies by about 6 goals and itโs really only that bad start that is costing us here.
Q4 โ Some intercept marks from Wes and Harley steady the ship. Deano and Pete combine to hit-up Joey, with Jack taking the play-on advantage on a long run and has multiple options including Dan and Scotty. But itโs the blinged-up Dazza who gets on the end of it for a much-celebrated major. We are 39 points behind with about 9 minutes left โ is there time for a miracle? The Pies are having none of it though, and their class midfield steps up to set up a few closing goals and the Facebook Stream dies again. Did we kick another goal?........the scoreboard thinks we may have or did they just give Dazz a bonus one for his great season?
Overall a fantastic match and season for the Cats. Everybody should be proud of what weโve achieved on the field and all the friendships made at the various Indoor Footy days and other great Reclink events. Well done to Collingwood for a much deserved win and we look forward to a replay at some stage next season.
Thanks again to all the players who filled in at short notice today, and also the continued service and awesome work of all the Reclink staff, volunteers, carers, GenU staff and all others for their continued support and faith in the Cats. If anyone has any extra photos or links from the day, please post them here or send to Joseph or Wes.
Final scores (we think): Geelong 6.4.40; Collingwood 15.6.96
Goals: CJ 1, Johnno 1, Ben 1, Jack 1, Dazz 1, +1?
Next week we have Awards Presentation at Corio โ get along if you can โ watch this space for details closer to the day (Wednesday 6th September).
