Match Wrap from Round 4 of Reclink Australia Victorian Football and Cricket Leagues.
Four seasons in one day for our big match-up with our country neighbours the Ballarat Bushrangers at White Flat Oval. With some enforced injury-related changes we roll up with a small but eager squad. Some inspirational words in the rooms in the lead-up (thanks for organising the special guests Andrew) and we're ready to play.
Q1: Powercats adapt to the rain a little better and are out of the blocks early with the first 3 goals.
Geelong 3-1-19.
Ballarat 0-0-0.
Q2: Ballarat put some good passages together for some scoreboard impact but the Powercats continue to be on top in the midfield with Beau in career-best form giving first use to our mid-field guns.
Geelong 6-3-39.
Ballarat 2-1-13.
Q3: Our forward targets are combining well and everyone is amongst the goals, whilst our backline is as miserly as ever.
Geelong 9-3-57.
Ballarat 3-2-20.
Q4: A few magnets are thrown around with our backup midfield thrown into the mix. Scoring on both sides increases as the weather improves and the pace goes off the game. Both sides really competitive in a tight quarter and overall a fantastic match played in great spirit and with great support from the sidelines.
Final Scores:
Geelong 13-3-81.
Ballarat 6-4-40.
Powercats Goals: Pixie-3, Johnno-3, Richie-2, Darren-1, Alan-1, Wes-1, Daniel-1, Quinn-1.
Really pleasing result for the Powercats, especially with so many new faces this year and some players playing in different roles. Was fantastic to catch up with some of our former team-mates (now with Ballarat) - thanks for hosting guys.

Round 3 of Reclink Australia Victorian Football and Cricket Leagues.
Powercats vs Wynbay Tigers.
A big crowd descended on Corio Community Sports Club to watch the latest instalment in the Cats/Tigers rivalry. With a few Powercats players on loan to Wynbay (returning the favour from the Round 9 clash last year) the teams were evenly matched and all set for a tight game.
Q1: Tigers out of the blocks early with some good efficiency up forward.
Tigers 4-0-24, Powercats 1-3-9.
Q2: The game tightened up and with both backlines on top it became a bit of a tug-of-war. The fog lifted but the sun was having an impact on the marking skills.
Tigers 6-2-38, Powercats 3-7-25.
Q3: Powercats overcame some injuries and enforced magnet shuffles, and made the most of their forward entries to go into the last break a couple of goals down.
Tigers 8-3-51, Powercats 5-7-37.
Q4: Powercats continued to push, but the Tigers mid-field with a little more composure in key moments led the side to a memorable victory. Well done to both sides in putting together another Reclink Classic.
Final Scores:
Powercats 8-7-55.
Tigers 10-4-64.
Powercats Goals:
Dylan Mc - 2, Damo - 2, Johnno - 1, Horko - 1, Dazz - 1, Alan C - 1.
(apologies if someone is missing here, these were compiled on the run and Johnno's goal mention is the result of a late ARC review)
Special mention to debutants Jessie, Torrie, Kev and Quinn (and a short cameo from Allen A), and we hope to see you all whenever possible for future games.
Thanks also to Empowered Liveability for their ongoing support and match-day presence.

Round 2 of Reclink Australia Victorian Football and Cricket Leagues.
Bendigo Gold vs Geelong Powercats
Cracker of match at California Gully after an early start and long road trip by the Powercats. A slow start with the undermanned Cats outnumbered early until some reinforcements arrived at Quarter Time and with help from a few players from the Gold at various stages. (Thanks very much to Scotty, Will, Dylan, Jamie and apologies if we've missed anyone.)
For the first 3 quarters the Gold were mostly in control around the ground but Powercats with some great accuracy up forward managed to hang in the game.
QT: Gold 6-2-38; Powercats 3-2-20.
HT: Gold 8-4-52; Powercats 7-3-45.
3QT: Gold 12-7-79; Powercats 10-3-63.
At the last break the belief was strong and we hit the front with the first few goals of the term, with our midfield slowly getting on top. After a couple of lead changes and with our backline holding firm we managed to hold on for a gutsy win. Well done to both sides on a fantastic match.
Thanks to all the officials, our ongoing support from The Power In You Project, and the great lunch provided by Bendigo Sandhurst Rotary Club.
Final Scores:
Bendigo Gold 14-8-92.
Geelong Powercats 15-4-94.
Goals: Dylan Mc - 6, Allan - 4, Damo - 2, Horko - 1, Beau - 1, Dazz - 1.
Next week we have a League-wide event at Collingwood, watch this page for further details.

We are sad to report the recent passing of a former player, coach and Cats legend Ocka.
Ocka played with the Kardinia Cats in the early days of the Reclink League, and into the GenU Cats era, and was a much respected and valued teammate, and mentor to many.
Current player Horko will be leading a short tribute at our next home game (Round 3) and current Powercats are asked to wear black arm-bands for the match.
Players are encouraged to share their memories (and any photos) of Ocka in the comments below.
Vale Ocka.

Round 1 of Reclink Australia Victorian Football and Cricket Leagues.
We took on our good friends and traditional Round 1 rivals Cohealth Kangaroos and what a great clash it was.
A mix of old and new players, some comeback kings and a couple of pop-up recruits from Wynbay Tigers combined to form a pretty handy team to kick off the season.
With a dominant midfield and most of our vest players getting amongst the goals, it was a good performance across the whole field. Great debuts by Willow, Jonty and Matt K and special thanks to Glen and Marty from Wynbay.
CoHealth battled hard all day and got within a goal or so a couple of times, but the Powercats steadied and held on for a good win, in a game played in great spirit and ethics.
Scores:
1/4: Powercats 3-5-23 to Kangaroos 0-1-1
1/2: Powercats 6-6-42 to Kangaroos 2-2-14
3/4: Powercats 8-6-54 to Kangaroos 5-4-34
FULL: Powercats 11-9-75 to Kangaroos 9-5-59
Goals:
Johnno - 2, Dylan Mc - 2, Alan 2, Matty P - 1, Marty - 1, Chloe - 1, Wes - 1, Willow - 1.
Upcoming events:
Wed 22/4: Training at Corio FC (11am)
