Over the rest of the week and next week I’ll be handing out a couple of new first-degree black belts to some of the long term students of the academy

One of the best parts of being a Jiu Jitsu instructor is being grade students up to the next level and when it is a degree on a black belt it’s a little bit more special
Going from black belt to Professor is an amazing achievement .

Gustavo Falciroli is one of Australia’s most accomplished Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors. Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, he began training in 1996 and earned his black belt in 2003 under Roberto Tozi and Roberto Godoi. He has built an impressive competition resume spanning Brazil, Australia, Asia, and international events

One of Australia best competitors will be teaching at DC Jiu Jitsu This Friday !

Back to training today after a huge weekend for DC Jiu Jitsu Geelong.

DCJJ head instructor spent the weekend learning from one of the best competitors in the world, Gutemberg Pereira who placed 2nd at the IBJJF worlds 2026 ultra heavy division at black belt.
Was epic to see and learn some amazing details, concepts and principles to bring back to the academy and pass on to the crew.

we also had competitors representing in both the Queensland state championships and the savage grappling competition in Victoria.
Queensland state championships
- 3 Athletes
- medal count - 2 x 1st, 3 x 2nd, 2 x 3rd place
- closed out the open weight blue NOGI 1st and 2nd from DCJJ

We are back tonight with NOGI Monday
Kids and adults classes will be running and we are looking forward to some hard training this week leading into this coming weekend, starting with the Gustavo Falciroli Deep half guard seminar Friday night and Dan will be heading to EVOBJJ for a grading and workshop on the 1st.
