Oh dear

How close is this, 6/2/2026
the male copperhead wrapped around the ladies leg but didn't bite,
When I caught up with her she was shaky as.
it will take her a while to get over this experience.
The snake was a healthy adult and appropriate 1.2m.
Snakes often move along walls and fences in this case they just got back from taking her cats to vets for needles .
Could of been a bad situation if the cats were outside. Lucky timing

We welcome a new season 2025-2026 snake catcher geelong suburb count.
these totals are not just calculated from top end $$$ snake removals, can be a turn up and find nothing, a job canceled on the travels, a possum call out etc..
doing this chart isn't about bragging on how many jobs its more for me to see what area is busy and like to bring this information to the public as why cannt it be an interest to the public aswell.
NOTE if your suburb isn't marked with numbers doesn't mean no snakes in area, clearly no one walking around with eyes open

🏡Bell post hill owners notice snake on the property and killed it while I was on phone getting information (wasn't happy) advised them it's against the law to kill wildlife.

Last season had a high number of snakes seen under or around waste bins.
With experience and wanting people to survive a situation I highly recommend place bins either in a open area away from walls OR have the bin handle opposite the wall, therefore as you grab the handle most likely your a arms length already and as you pull the bin the angle will open on opposite side to you, limiting the chance for the snake to notice you.
Yes I know it might be a little inconvenient to having the bin lid opening from the wall side.
Yet this simple adjustment is an easy action for anyone to do in their home

Banno
Gotta feel for this guy out banno as he got a trailer of mulch and taken it home and found a couple of yearling browns in it.
I wasn't needed, as he's gonna return the load.
At least he called me and got advice information is priceless

IN summary
Thats it for another season, 121 more calls than the 2023-2024 season.
Lowlands copperheads were most often removed,( 129 ).
Approx 275 reptiles removed from the 889 calls that came in.
during this season it appeared that i was filliing up on fuel every 3 days, during snake season ill get about 800km per tank of diesel , now looking forward to that tank lasting a month lol.
please take care during winter as snakes will be hiding till disturbed by you.
looking forward to go camping now that the season is done and dusted, i deserve it
September I'll put up as such a winter total, and the odd post.

i nearly got to a stage to stop these current posts due to jealously of two snake controllers expecting me to give them a few of my jobs as they weren't getting none, big diffence between my business and a hobby, while this turned out to be an aggravated damage saturation, its now a police matter i cannt say anything at the moment.

A post about hay bails this morning with scammers wanting money up front triggered me to do a post.

Doesn't matter if it's hay or straw or any bails, snakes will use a bail to hide in during brumation.
My suggestion is always open the bail or separate the biscuits in a open area and flat on the ground , not in a wheel barrow.
This is not just for rural people it's also people who use straw bails for gardens.
Recently a block out little river had two bails delivered and had two snakes removed ,

Indented heads
Copperhead found under the bin.
A common spot to find a snake during brumation.

Brumation is when a snake slows its body functions to contain its body heat during winter , so when you come across a snake in brumation it will look at you and genuinely won't move .
Photo of my pet copperhead instead of the copperhead removed, as due to our licence requirements by law.

Over this season I've had a few people call me wanting to be a snake catcher, one of the first things asked is about how much $$.
I guess because I've been doing the monthly suburbs totals, now these figures are calls that came in on phone calls, not necessary all top dollar removals.
This season 3 new catchers have started, over last 5 years 6 catchers have started.
So this month is a real reality check, it takes years to get to where I am, doesn't happen in a day.
Geelong's rather lucky, the snake catchers you have are on messenger, so when we are
to busy we can share the jobs to others for the customers benefit for quicker response.
So with the weather lately that's why 66 calls for this month is a real reality check.
And I would like to thank you all for checking in on my pages and showing interest

Stay safe people take care.
