It's been a big few days for former Junior and our T20 Marquee
Last weekend, he made his debut for English club making 137 on debut. Then, on Tuesday, it was announced he had once again kept his contract at the Vic's, with a debut not far away.
We'll follow his progress through the English Sunmer as hopefully last week was a sign of big things to come for Blacky!!

Meet the New Magpies
We wrap up our week of meeting the new Magpies with a female star who will help our Women's section aim for back to back Premierships.
Alice Acklam
Our 4th addition to the Nest this week is Alice Acklam. Alice joins us all the way from the Yorkshire CCC Women’s Academy, bringing a wealth of high-level experience and a clinical edge to our 2026/27 womens campaign.
Alice’s journey began at Beverley Town Cricket Club, where she sharpened her skills against the best, progressing through the age groups all the way into the Men’s team. Her talent didn't stay local for long; she has represented Yorkshire consistently from Under 13s through to the Under 18s. After a standout year in the Yorkshire Emerging Players Programme (EPP), she deservedly earned her place in the prestigious Yorkshire Academy this year.
Alice is a genuine threat with both bat and ball, and her recent numbers back it up in this current English summer she has set personal bests with bat 51* off 34 and ball 5/74. She was also made captain of Yorkshire u18s showing her leadership qualities.
A versatile 18-year-old all-rounder with top-tier academy pedigree, Alice is set to be a vital asset for the club as we look toward another big summer.
Welcome, Alice. We can’t wait to see you in action at The Nest!

Meet the New Magpies
It's that time of year again, time to meet our new recruits for 2026/27.
Tayne Hewson
Our 3rd recruit is following in the footsteps of former team mate Angus Cranny as he comes across from Alexander Thomson. A top order bat who had a breakout year in Div 2, Tayne made 312 runs with a top score of 93 against Bell Park.
Whilst he hardly bowled last year, Tayne does have a few wickets to his name, bowling off spin. With a plethora of batsmen who bowl off spin at the club already, Im sure he'll fit right in, and we can't wait to see him having a crack at Division 1 Cricket.
Welcome, Tayne!

Meet the New Magpies
It's that time of year again, time to meet our new recruits for 2026/27.
Peter Herrick
Our second recruit for the season is Peter Herrick. Pete is best known in Geelong Cricket as the coach who turned Lara around in just 2 seasons. A superb coach with great leadership, Peter will slide straight in as a leader at the club. Prior to Lara, Pete had stints at Footcray in Vic Premier Cricket, Williamstown, and Deer Park.
Along with leadership qualities, his more than handy batting will be uplifting for the turf squad. In his first season at Lara, he made 390 runs, including a massive 141 against Torquay.
A qualified fire fighter, sometimes work may get in the way on Saturdays, however Peter's leadership and experience will be huge for our squad and we cant wait to see him and his young family in the Black and white this season!
Welcome, Peter!

Meet the New Magpies
It's that time of year again, time to meet our new recruits for 2026/27.
Tanner Hay
Over the last few years, we’re used to seeing former magpies head out to Bannockburn and ply their trade, this year, we finally get one back our way. Tanner Hay is a young top order bat who, over the last 2 seasons, has made 819 with a top score of 137 against Manifold. That wasn't his most memorable knock. However, as last season, he almost went 1 better with quickfire 96 against Lethbridge off just 45 balls.
After getting his batting right and knowing his game more and more, Tanner also rolled the arm over, bowling offies. Last season, he picked up 21 wickets to officially hit all rounder status
Welcome, Tanner. we can't wait to see you in action at the Nest this season!

A day for Scratcher
We'd like to thank everyone for their generous efforts and time. On Sunday we raised $46,272 to go towards what will be a really testing time in Scratchers Life.
The day ran smooothly with Wes Cusworth leading the way as usual. Auctioneer extraordinar David Roach was great getting every last cent out of the bidders, and the day was a massive success.
We will post the final figure once we get the information!
