🐸 INSIDE THE POND IS BACK! 🏏

We’re back diving Inside the Pond to get to know the players, supporters and people who make Murghe what it is — and this week we’ve got a very exciting one.

Next up is Shane Dissanayake — new to the Frogs this season and joining us not only as a player, but also as our head coach.

Shane is a ripping bloke, easy to chat to, great around the group, and already making a strong impression around the club. But don’t let the calm nature fool you — he brings plenty of aura, plenty of experience, and a seriously attacking approach to cricket. 👀

Whether it’s with the bat in hand, helping drive standards, or throwing himself into club life, we’re pumped to have Shane at Murghe and can’t wait to see the impact he’ll have this season.

We’ve got plenty of great characters around the Frog Pond, so it’s time to get to know the players, supporters and people who make Murghe what it is just a little better.

And who better to kick off Inside the Pond than a man who needs very little introduction…

Some know him as Mr G. Some as Mick. And some even know him as Max Gong. 😂 Whatever you call him, after 24 years at Murghe, Michael Grozdanovski is well and truly part of the furniture!

A lifelong Frog, apparently criminally under-bowled, a secret gardening enthusiast 🌱 and a man who once got to share the 1sts with his Dad and both brothers — there’s plenty to learn about Mick.

So have a read, get to know Max Gong a little better, and stay tuned as we head Inside the Pond with plenty more Frogs throughout the season. 👀🐸

🐸🏏 THE FROGS HAVE A NEW JAMES KELLY! 🏏🐸

No, we haven’t convinced the Geelong Cats legend to pull on the whites… but we reckon this James Kelly might go alright too! 😄

We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome James Kelly to Murgheboluc for the 2026/27 season, joining us all the way from Yorkshire, England 🇬🇧

James is a talented batting all-rounder, bringing a fluent right-handed top-order game and some very handy left-arm orthodox spin to the Frog Pond.

He joins us from Bedale Cricket Club in the strong North Yorkshire & South Durham Cricket League, where he has put together some pretty impressive numbers since arriving in 2023:

🏏 2,323 runs at an average of 40
💯 4 centuries & 17 half-centuries
🎯 120 wickets at an average of 18
🔥 Best bowling figures of 7/24

And if that wasn't enough, James was named the league's 2025 Player of the Year, after piling on 855 runs at an average of 50 and taking 48 wickets at just 16 apiece.

Safe to say, we're pretty excited to see what he can bring to the Frog Pond! 👀

James will also be joined in Australia by his partner, Keira, and we're looking forward to welcoming them both to the Murgheboluc Cricket Club. 💚💛

We can't wait to have you both here and get you involved in the club.
