AMT Equestrian Services helps horse owners find more joy and connection with their horse by building a solid foundation for life-long soundness. I offer horsemanship coaching and clinics as well as horse training services and regularly host world renowned clinicians, instructors and other equine professionals. AMT Equestrian is managed by Andrew Turnbull who has a deep love and passion for helping horses get along better with people and helping horse owners become more connected, skillful and understanding with horses. Andrew has a unique skill set to empower horse owners to deepen their relationship with their horse and progress on their horsemanship journey. Each year I ride and train my own horses with world renowned horsemen and women and learn from other professionals to continuously build on my knowledge, skills and awareness. Always searching for better and kinder ways to train, ride and manage my horses, I have gone in search across the world to find trainers, clinicians and practitioners who resonate and teach horsemanship that puts the horse’s welfare first and foremost and builds on the deep connection, trust, softness and feel that represents true mastery in horsemanship. AMT Equestrian’s focus is on working with horses in a holistic way that benefits the horses’ biomechanics and way of motion to build soundness as well as mental, behavioural and emotional well being.

A horse learns from the release, which means timing matters.

We ask a question, notice the smallest correct response and acknowledge it. The better we become at recognising those early efforts, the less pressure we often need.

This is where training begins to feel more like a conversation and less like a list of instructions.

There is no single training method that suits every horse.

One horse may need more time to process. Another may need clearer boundaries. Some benefit from groundwork, while others understand an idea more easily through ridden work, trail riding or an activity that gives the exercise a purpose.

Good horsemanship asks us to observe first, then choose the most useful response.

Bettina is passionate horse person, a lifelong student of the horse-human relationship, and most of all, a teacher who believes in training with kindness, clarity, and mutual respect. Bettina spends a good part of the year traveling to teach clinics, and cherishes the opportunity to stay connected with riders around the world through online lessons as well.

Horse people are usually very good at checking on their horses.

Today, take a moment to check on the person standing beside them too.

A genuine “Are you OK?” and a little time to listen can mean more than we realise. You do not need to have all the answers. Sometimes being present is enough.

Look after your travelling companions, stable friends, family and the people who quietly help keep everything moving.

One of the best parts of a clinic is discovering that you are not the only person working through a particular challenge.

Watching other horses and riders can be just as useful as taking part yourself. You see different approaches, hear questions you may not have thought to ask and share plenty of laughs along the way.

That is the kind of learning community we value at AMT.

Bettina is an internationally respected horse trainer, clinician and educator from Poland who specialises in the Academic Art of Riding, a classical approach to horsemanship that focuses on biomechanics, communication and developing a genuine partnership between horse and rider.

Bettina is known for helping riders:

Develop soft, clear communication with their horse.
Improve straightness, balance and correct biomechanics.
Build confidence through groundwork, in-hand work and ridden exercises.
Understand the "why" behind each exercise rather than simply following a training method.

It can help us understand balance, timing, personal space and how clearly our horse is reading each request. It also gives us a chance to work through questions without the added pressure of being in the saddle.

Often, the improvement we find on the ground follows us straight into our ridden work.

At AMT, a lesson is about much more than riding around an arena.

It is learning to notice the small things. How your horse is feeling, where their attention is and what your own body might be communicating without you realising it.

Some days bring big breakthroughs. Other days, one softer transition or a calmer response is enough. It all counts.

✏️A message from Bettina:

If you would like to learn about the Academic Art of Riding in a relaxed and positive atmosphere, please come and join. Spectators are welcome.

For me, it’s important to teach with respect for the human and the horse, and all levels of riders and horses are welcome. I will do my best to give you tips and a plan to continue. We will focus on balance and aids (communication) rather than just performing exercises. Harmony between horses and their humans is not just an advertising slogan for me - I really strive to help humans and horses understand each other better, one lesson at a time.

We do not filter participants according to level of skill and value leading training just as much as advanced work. You can work bitless or with a bit, ride in a saddle or in a pad, and I simply try to support you and work with what you already have.

There will be a theory lecture each day, and each participant with horse receives 5 individual lessons.
