🎾 MRTA Junior Summer Season 2026 Wrap-Up! 🎾

The 2026 MRTA Junior Summer Season has come to an end, and a big congratulations to all of our Gisborne junior teams! 👏

This season, Gisborne had 9 teams competing, with 7 making finals and 4 progressing through to today’s Grand Finals. A fantastic result, with 3 teams becoming premiers and 1 finishing runner-up! 🏆🎉

Most importantly, well done to all of our junior players for getting out there each Saturday, giving your best, being great teammates and representing Gisborne Tennis Club in such a positive way. 🎾

A huge thank you as well to all of our parents, families and team managers for getting the kids to and from matches and helping out each week. Junior competition simply wouldn’t happen without everyone pitching in.

And a special thank you to Kathy and Steve, our Gisborne junior coordinators, for volunteering their time and helping give our junior players the opportunity to get out on court and compete. 🙌

Congratulations everyone on a fantastic season! 🎾🏆👏

Gisborne Junior Development Tournament 2 🎾

Looking for some extra match play these school holidays?

Join us for the Gisborne Junior Development Tournament 2 on Thursday 24 September at Gisborne Tennis Club.

12 & Under | 14 & Under | 18 & Under
Round-robin format
$30 entry

The tournament is open to junior players who currently play, or have previous experience playing, in an organised tennis competition. Players need to be able to play and score their matches independently.

A great opportunity to get some extra match play over the holidays, practise your competition skills and play against some different opponents.

Tournament Day 🎾

Four Chapman Tennis Coaching players competed in a GP UTR tournament at Kuringal Tennis Club on Thursday 9 July.

Congratulations to all the players for getting out there and competing, and a special well done to Robbie on winning his division!

🎾 Match Play Camp 🎾

This week we ran a Match Play Camp for some of our younger players, with a focus on match play, sportsmanship, effort, courage and teamwork.

It was great to see the players out there having a go, competing, supporting each other and learning more about what it means to compete in a positive way.

Well done to everyone who came along — it was fantastic to see you all out on court. 👏

🎾 Junior Development Tournament Wrap-Up ☀️

On Thursday 16 April, we were so pleased to host our Junior Development Tournament at Gisborne Tennis Club.

We had 39 players compete across the Under 12s, Under 14s and Under 18s, with the round-robin format giving everyone plenty of opportunities to get out on court, compete, and challenge themselves. In total, around 80 sets were played — a fantastic effort by all 👏

What stood out most was the great effort, positive attitude, and the way players supported one another throughout the day. It was also fantastic to see so many kids connecting off the court as well — cheering on friends, hanging out together, and enjoying being part of the event ❤️

That’s what these events are all about:
🎾 having a go
💪 challenging yourself
👏 supporting others
😊 being active
🤝 connecting with friends and building a sense of belonging

Congratulations to all of our winners, and well done to every player who took part 🌟

Thanks again to everyone who helped make it such a great day. We’re already looking forward to the next one! 🎾💙

🎾☀️ Junior Summer Competition Wrap-Up – Gisborne Tennis Club ☀️🎾

What a season it’s been! Our Junior Summer Season has wrapped up, and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone who competed.

✅ 9 teams
✅ Around 46 players involved across the season
✅ 6 teams made finals
✅ 3 teams made grand finals
🏆 And 2 teams came away as premiers — amazing effort!

But more than results, what we loved seeing week after week was the stuff that really matters: players having a go, sticking with the challenge, and continuing to improve — plus the way they carried themselves on court and supported their teammates.

Throughout the season we saw our club values on display:
💛 Respect | 💪 Effort | 🦁 Courage | 🤝 Empathy | 🌱 Growth

A big shoutout as well to everyone recognised at Presentation Day (Saturday 21 March) — congratulations to all MVP winners, and especially to our Best Sportsperson Award recipients. Being a great sport and teammate is something we’re incredibly proud to celebrate at Gisborne.

Thank you to everyone for a fantastic season. Well done to every player for their effort, and for representing their team and our club so strongly 👏

What a fantastic day we had on Sunday 22 March at the Gisborne Tennis Club Open Club Championships ☀️🎾

We were very lucky with the weather, and it set the scene for a brilliant day of tennis.

What stood out most was the spirit in which the day was played — great effort, sportsmanship, support for one another, and plenty of fun along the way. It was wonderful to see the club buzzing with people competing, socialising, and enjoying the day.

There were some terrific matches throughout the event, including some very close contests, and it was great to see everyone getting out there and giving it their best.

A big congratulations to all of our winners, and to everyone who took part 👏

Thank you as well to everyone who helped out throughout the day. Days like this only happen because people get involved, and we really appreciate it.

These are the kinds of days that remind us how important local sporting clubs are — bringing people together, keeping people active, and giving everyone a chance to enjoy being part of the club.

Thanks again to everyone who helped make it such a great day. 😀🎾
