🥎 What are your thoughts on this change?

With our growing junior softball numbers in Gladstone, we’re excited that this pathway will open up more opportunities for our 13–15 year-olds to represent their school, region and state through the school system.

However, we also have to ask — what happens to our 16–18 year-olds?

At Softball Gladstone alone, we have 7+ talented young athletes, with some set to miss this opportunity altogether. Whether striving for their first Queensland Representative School Sport selection and the chance to compete at School Sport Australia against the best, or for 2 of our boys that are hoping to defend a National title, retain their All Australian Team selection and use this elite competition as preparation for bigger international goals, these opportunities matter.

How do we continue to keep our older teenage athletes keen, challenged and thriving in softball?

A new chapter for school softball 🇦🇺🥎

From 2027, Softball Australia and School Sport Australia will introduce a new U15 School Sport Australia Softball Championship, strengthening the connection between school sport and Australia’s national softball pathway.

Softball Fever Hits Calliope SS! 🥎

Our Year 3–6 students had a fantastic softball season, with 13 students taking part in club softball. The grand final saw our Calliope team face the Angels, featuring Calliope students Leighton and Evan!

It was a fun-filled season of learning, friendships and plenty of softball, with everyone finishing with a medal and great memories. 🥎👏

Michael and Anna completed their final sign-off at the Softball Rockhampton Grand Finals, mentored and signed off by one of the absolute best — Norelle Thompson, aka Pinkie! 💗

We love seeing our members stepping up, developing their skills and giving back to the game. Having more qualified umpires coming through locally is another huge win for Softball Gladstone and the future of our sport. 💙🥎

Max Ferguson & Logan Peachey 🇦🇺

Two regional Gladstone mates, playing the game they love and kicking goals together. 💚💛🥎

From pulling on the Port Curtis jersey together as 11-year-olds, to now being part of the U18 Australian Squad — what a journey it has been for Max & Logan!

Tomorrow, Max & Logan head to Canberra for a 4-day Australian Squad Training Camp, where they’ll train alongside some of the best young softball talent in Australia. 🇦🇺

Years of training, travelling, representative softball and plenty of time spent together on and off the diamond have led to this opportunity.
