Restless Racing

⛵️ What a day for the Restless family.

With the owner and skipper overseas, most of the Restless family stepped up to keep the boat on the water.

With a full crew aboard, Restless started about five minutes late and worked its way through the fleet. Brad and Maryke took the win, while Restless finished 2nd on handicap, just 6 seconds behind Brad and ahead of Evan.

The start provided plenty of entertainment for the crew and other sailors, although the kite may not have survived a B&GI. Sorry Johno — apparently that was mission control’s fault.

The course was shortened as Restless was finding its groove, which was probably just as well after a full day on the water.

Thanks to our Club Patrons, the Barkers, for putting on the day, and to everyone who took part.

Restless enjoyed another successful sailing season, celebrated at the annual Port Curtis Sailing Club Awards Presentation Night.

A huge thank you to our dedicated crew, whose commitment, enthusiasm and teamwork ensured Restless made it to the start line every weekend and remained competitive throughout the season. Sailing success is never the achievement of one person alone—it is built on the efforts of an entire crew, both on and off the water.

A special moment of the evening was seeing Skipper John proudly continue his father's legacy through the annual sponsorship of the Roy Ibell Memorial Trophy. The trophy, presented in memory of father Roy, was this year awarded to long-time friend and fellow sailor Stephen, making the occasion even more meaningful.

Congratulations to all sailors recognised throughout the evening for their achievements during the 2025–2026 season.

We are incredibly grateful to have such a wonderful Restless family and Port Curtis Sailing Club family. The friendships, support and camaraderie are what make our sailing community so special.

Pete the Parrot has finally resurfaced after being missing in action for a few days.

After the race he enjoyed a play with the grand-puppies and, at long last, a very welcome and refreshing shower to wash off the salt water… and whatever other spray he collected along the way.

Now thoroughly dried out—inside and out—Pete is settling in for a well-earned rest until next year’s Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race. 🦜⛵😄
