From members returning to exercise after a break, to long-time users rediscovering their enthusiasm, and newcomers finding their place, it was a delight to see Go for Gold capture the inclusive and active spirit of both the Commonwealth Games and our local leisure centres.
Congratulations again to Roni, Catherine and Xuan, and thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the challenge such a success.

Today is World Drowning Prevention Day.
This week, our team wore blue to remember those who have lost their lives to drowning and to reinforce an important message:
Anyone can drown, but no one should.
Every year, far too many lives are lost in preventable drowning incidents. By taking simple steps, we can all help make our waterways, pools, and beaches safer.
Here are a few ways you can help:
- Learn to swim by enrolling in swimming lessons
- Always supervise children around water
- Check your pool fence and gate are secure
- Avoid alcohol and drugs around water
- Wear a lifejacket when out on the water
- Know the water conditions before you enter
- Learn CPR
Take a moment today to learn more about drowning prevention and how you can help save a life. For more information and resources, visit royallifesaving.com.au

Due to low lighting levels in the pool hall, the operating hours for the 25m pool and warm water (hydro) pool will be temporarily adjusted today, 5 May. These pools will close earlier than usual at 5:00 pm and will reopen at 7:00 am tomorrow, 6 May.
At present, the lighting is not functioning as expected, resulting in lower visibility. To maintain a safe environment for all users, these adjusted hours will apply during the evening and early morning periods.
Our team is working urgently to resolve the issue, and we will provide a further update tomorrow.
All other facilities, including the indoor leisure pool and changerooms, will remain open as usual.
We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to restore normal operating hours.

Autumn is the perfect time to set your child up for a confident, safe summer in the water 🍂🏊♀️
As the weather cools, indoor pools become a warm and welcoming space to build essential swimming skills—without the summer rush. Starting early helps children grow from cautious beginners into confident, capable swimmers who genuinely love the water.
One local family shared with Stonnington News how swimming lessons transformed their kids’ confidence, independence, and safety awareness—turning every beach day and pool visit into something to look forward to.
Whether you’re just starting out or continuing the journey, consistency is key—and the benefits last a lifetime.
