Friday Night Are Back! ⚾️🖤❤️

Waverley Baseball Club was buzzing on Friday night as our Rookie Ball and Tee Ball season got underway!

The diamonds were full of energy, excitement and plenty of smiling faces as our youngest Wildcats hit the field for another season of fun, learning and friendship. It was fantastic to see so many players, families and volunteers enjoying the opening night atmosphere.

We can't wait to see these young stars continue to grow throughout the season. Welcome back to baseball! 🐾⚾

⚾ Great news for Waverley Baseball Club!

Back in March, I received a letter from 12-year-old Nathaniel Keys asking Council to upgrade the club’s ageing batting cages.

A few weeks later, I attended the club’s presentation night and learnt about the years of advocacy behind this project. The designs were complete, but funding was still needed.

After discussions with Council officers and lobbying local State MP John Mullahy, I’m delighted that Council has secured a $450,000 Victorian Government Local Sports Infrastructure grant!

John and I were at the club on Saturday to announce the funding.

There’s still a $750,000 shortfall, which will be considered as part of Council’s upcoming 2027/28 budget. No guarantees, but I’m confident we’ll get this across the line.

A great example of what can happen when young people speak up. Well done Nathaniel, and everyone at Waverley Baseball Club who has pushed for this project over many years!

WE ❤️ OUR VOLUNTEERS

A hardy crew of volunteers braved the rain and ran our Bunnings Sausage Sizzle on Saturday. Sadly the weather gods didn't shine on us on Saturday, but we still raised over $700 on the day.

Many thanks to Blair Wilson, Caroline (Skip Arthur), Charlotte Arthur, Chris Evans, Amanda Sinclair, Craig Hockley, Susanne Hockley, Harrison Hockley and Hugh Hockley for giving up time on Saturday to help the club raise funds to provide equipment for the teams. Your assistance is much appreciated.

Awesome work guys !!!!

Just on the eve on round 1 we’ve got a big announcement that Charlie Collins will be joining the wildcats for the 26/27 season.

Charlie comes to us after 4 years of college baseball and huge summer league season with the sylvan lake gulls.

Charlie made a huge impact at Southeastern, hitting .393 with 94 hits, 8 home runs, 65 RBIs and 17 stolen bases during the 2025 season. He followed that up in 2026 with another strong campaign, recording 8 home runs, 41 RBIs and 10 stolen bases, while earning Second-Team All-Sun Conference honours.

Were wrapped to have Charlie joining us and we add him to an already frightening lineup that I’m sure other teams pitchers will fear facing !

🚨FIERENZI’S A WILDCAT 🚨

The Waverley Baseball Club is excited to welcome Ben Fierenzi to the Wildcats for the upcoming summer season! 🐾 Ben is no stranger to Waverley, having represented the club during the winter, and we’re thrilled to see him pull on the Wildcats uniform this summer.

Ben comes across with an impressive college baseball résumé, recording a .314 career batting average, 193 hits, 7 home runs, 121 RBIs and 32 stolen bases across four college seasons. He also put together a standout winter campaign, hitting .420 with 7 home runs, showcasing the power and production he’ll bring to the Wildcats lineup. We’re excited to have Ben back at Waverley and look forward to seeing what he can achieve this summer!

Welcome to the Wildcats, Ben! 🔴⚫🐾

🔴⚫ WELCOME TO WAVERLEY, CONOR MYLES! ⚫🔴

Waverley Baseball Club is thrilled to welcome Conor Myles to the Wildcats for the upcoming season!

The talented Australian left-handed pitcher arrives at Waverley with an impressive résumé, having represented Australia internationally and competed at the NCAA Division I level with the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).

Conor brings valuable experience from both the international and collegiate stages of the game, and we’re excited to see him bring that experience to the red and black.

Conor enjoyed an outstanding 2026 campaign with UTSA, finishing with a 10–1 record, a 3.28 ERA and 65 strikeouts across 74 innings pitched. He held opposing hitters to a .239 batting average and recorded a perfect 8–0 record against conference opposition. His performances earned him American Conference Pitcher of the Year honours, as well as NCAA Division I Third-Team All-America recognition.

We’re incredibly excited to have a pitcher of Conor’s experience and calibre joining the club. We look forward to seeing him take the mound, compete alongside his new teammates and make his mark as a wildcat.

From everyone at Waverley Baseball Club, welcome aboard Conor, Let’s get to work!
