Glenelg Baseball Club The Glenelg Baseball Club was founded in 1931 at the commencement of district baseball in South Australia. It is a dedicated, year round baseball facility.

The Glenelg Baseball Club, located close to picturesque Glenelg beaches and Jetty Road, is welcoming to everyone and prides itself in fielding high performing, competitive men's, women's and junior teams in all age groups. We did not have a “home” until a lease was signed with the West Beach Trust in 1959 for a playing field at Anderson Reserve, Anderson Avenue, Glenelg North. This land was subsequently developed and games were first played at the reserve in 1961. Over the years several major developments of the club’s playing fields and facilities have been made, making Glenelg one of the few clubs in South Australia which complies with international standards and capable of hosting international competitions. The Glenelg Baseball Club is situated on 7ha of land within the West Beach Trust Recreation Park (Adelaide Shores). There are 3 full size grass diamonds with cutouts - all with permanent 2 metre high home run fences and backstops. There are 2 fully enclosed netted and powered batting cages and a number of bullpens (pitcher training stations) scattered around the facility. The club currently enters no less than 6 senior and 6 junior teams in the South Australian Baseball Leagues competition. We also enter teams in the South Australian Winter Baseball Association. Since 1970, the club has hosted the annual South Australian Country Championships. Up to 12 Country Associations have spent the long weekend in October each year in the only event in which they compete against one another. It has always been a big social event for the country players, many of them bringing their families to the city for the weekend, resulting in over 200 players, officials and their families staying in the Glenelg area. The Club Members are accustomed to hosting visiting teams and events such as National and International Championships. We have developed a reputation for being great hosts and providing top class service to our visitors. The Club has hosted teams from visiting American naval ships, Japanese teams on demonstration tours and American College teams.

Saturday 24 October 2026 // Double Header

GAME 1: South 4 def Glenelg 3

Rain threatened, but credit to South’s grounds crew for getting the field ready. Game 1 became the Horrock’s Cup clash, and it was a cracker.

Jayden Eldridge made his first start of the season. Two South homers put us down 4-0 before Connor Hickey answered with a solo shot. Bailey Edgar then scored after a lead-off single as we clawed back to 4-3 with two innings remaining.

South’s import delivered key outs when needed. Connor Hill recorded two outs in relief, while Tom’s one-out single in the last gave us hope, but we couldn’t bring him home.

Super proud of the fight — we’re so close you can smell it!

HITS: Huttunen 2, Hickey 2 (HR), Edgar
PITCHING:
J Eldridge: 5.1 IP, 4 H, 5 K, 4 ER
Hill: 0.2 IP, 0 H, 1 K, 0 ER

GAME 2: South 4 def Glenelg 2

Another lead-off homer had us trailing early, but Flynn Luders kept us in it with a quality start.

Hits to Steff, Tom and Pickles helped us score two in the third before South levelled at 2-2 after five. Cyrus got an opportunity in relief, followed by Hill and Steff.

We outhit South 10-6 and created plenty of chances, but too many free passes proved costly. Kyle collected two hits, while an outstanding play from the fence cut down Ollie at home — one you can only tip your hat to.

Again, we fought to the finish, bringing the winning run to the plate with one out in the last, but South’s reliever shut the door.

Two competitive games against last year’s grand finalists give us positives to build on. Heads up as we return home for another double header this weekend!

The GBC Team of the Week returns for 26/27 - the team comes to you via Quals and Homerun Maintainence Services, aside from his own job Quals has the IF looking a treat at the GBC to start off this year. He is also a great contact for jobs around the house big and small that you might need sorted before the end of the year is upon us.

The first serving this season is a mash up of round 1 and 2. The pitching staff had a few outings unlucky to sneak in, but Kylie was magnificent on the weekend, Preston looked outstanding in week 1 - fresh off the back of making the u16 state team, well done Presto and Cyrus had arguably his best senior outing in a tough loss in rnd 2.

Freezer has swung the bat well through both weeks, a few new faces to the club pushed their way into the team this week - Connor Hickey with a homer, Evan Duke continues to have great at bats and is learning his craft at 1B and Agassian is brand new to the sport and got a knock on the weekend to drive in a couple of runs in the 6s big road win.

Pippa was awesome in the WD1 space and pretty much picked herself by all reports. Harry T continues to do his thing in the u12 group. Dave and Owen combined for 6 hits on the weekend - so that will do.

Zeddy is off to a flyer with the new look u18s starting the year 2-0 and takes the helm for this week's lineup.

Game 1 - Southern Districts 10 def Glenelg 9

After a long, cold preseason, it was finally time to play baseball!

The good guys started hot, loading the bases with none out through Bec “Boo” Williams, Kenzie Ween and Georgia Kaluza. Ezzy Harris drove in two with a hit to right, helping us put three on the board. Souths replied with five, but we battled back to level the scores heading into their final at-bat. A couple of hits saw them walk it off, 10–9.

There were plenty of highlights: Ezzy finished with three RBIs, Kylie Lok pitched well in her first outing, and Boo, “Mustang” Sally Forrest and Mel Bennink reached base every time. Some sharp relays also delivered terrific outs at home.

Pippa Harris made her Division 1 debut, replacing Kate “Ritchie” Cunningham, whose leg injury has sadly resulted in her retirement. You’ll be missed, Ritchie, and we hope to see you around soon.

Overall, a great first hit-out for the ladies!

Game 2 - Glenelg 5 draw Kensington 5

After the tough news about Kate, Round 2 brought a special moment: 14-year-old Pippa Harris making her first Division 1 start. With Millie Harris also making her first start of the season, a third of our lineup came from the same household—a memorable day for the Harris family!

Kensington scored first, but Boo led our reply with the first of her three hits, helping us draw level. In the third, Pippa’s first hit—a double—had everyone cheering. Timely hitting from Kaluza and the lower order helped us lead 4–2 after three.

Our defence stayed strong, with Kylie delivering six innings for just three earned runs. We trailed by one heading into our final at-bat, when Kenzie returned from the country and delivered a pinch-hit single. A steal and passed ball moved her to third before Pippa’s fielder’s choice brought her home to tie the game.

A super proud coach—great game, ladies!

Game 2 – Adelaide 7 def Glenelg 2

Our first home game of the year as we played host to perennial contender Adelaide.

Flynn took the pill for us and was outstanding, going 5 strong, scattering 4 hits and leaving the ball game with the score 0-0 at the end of 5. Zac came out of the bullpen and unfortunately let a leadoff walk cross the plate and see the score 1-0 after 6. It unravelled for us in the 7th as the visitor tacked on 6 runs, all scored with 2 outs. What could have been if we record that 3rd out early.

Connor Hickey was our standout with the stick as he went 2 for 2, which included a 2 run homer to get us on the board. We scattered our hits, their guy threw very well and didn’t hand out any free passes, so scoring was always going to be tough.

Bailey Edgar slotted in behind the plate and did a tremendous job in his first game behind the dish in what’s probably been 8 to 9 months. We had a 16 and 17 year play the left side of the infield and they held their own. Steffy’s 2 innings where great for a guy who hasn’t had a great deal of work just yet.

Our focus now shifts to the Horrocks Cup this weekend as we head down South to Peregrine Park for a double header. Game 1 is at 2pm and the Horrocks Cup game is scheduled for a 4:30 first pitch. Lot of work to be done between now and then, hope to see you down there to support the guys!
