DF95 club championship, 23 Aug 2026 results. With Simon away the fight for the top spots was tight! Race-wins to four boats, but Peter T proved too strong. A bit of w**d slowed down most boats at some point. Big thanks to Gully for coming down and scoring for us!

The 2026 IOM season resumed in a top-of-a-rig northerly with twelve boats. Strong bullets came through regularly as the wind trended west. The fleet started on A-rig and then went down to B-rig halfway through. We used the new starter box for the first time; very nice!

DC started the day with electrical gremlins while Kym developed some other kind of gremlin for his boat.

The DF95 round today was held at the Pat following a few recent trips down to the Port. The wind was an in an ideal northerly direction at around 8-10kts. This allowed a very fair race course where no side was particularly favoured. Tony picked up where he left off after the last round. His new NJS sails continue to show improved performance. Simon sailed better than last round to get into second, but couldn’t match Tony’s consistency and seems to have lost his State Title winning form. Tim Arland was the quiet achiever for the day. He posted consistent results to get on the podium. Tim Paynter also started well, but got into some traffic later in the day and just missed the podium. Chris Chatfield was looking good in several races, but couldn’t quite get through for a win. Wayne had to leave early but was always pushing the leaders. All round it was a great day of sun, fair wind and close racing. Can’t ask for more than that!

We once again ventured down to Harts mill to avoid flood debris at the Pat for the DF95 round today. Unfortunately the South-easterly was persistent for the first half hour and delayed racing. When things finally got underway we faced a switchy breeze with a huge outgoing tide. This meant that upwind was a free-ride, but missing a gust downwind fighting into the tide had boats regularly go from first to last. The results across the fleet were some of the closest we have had. Both Danny and Simon struggled to get out of the pack and missed the podium. Wayne Sheffield had been threatening an all for the glory port hand cross the fleet start for a few races and eventually pulled it off. However a lapse of judgment on the next upwind kept him from scoring back to back wins. Tim and Tony had great boat speed from the outset. It looked like they would be fighting for top spot. However Peter T had a habit of slipping through at the end of each race and scored a well deserved 2nd. Congratulations to Tony. The new NJS sails seem to have the boat consistently at the front. Keeping out of trouble in the challenging conditions was the difference. Thanks also to Lightsview for the loan of start machine and Chris M for helping with the boat retrieval.

The DF95 round this Sunday 5 July 2026 will be moved to Harts Mill commencing at 10:30am and finishing at 12:30pm. We hope to see another good fleet in the forecast pleasant conditions.

It was the DF95 fleet’s turn to head down to Harts Mill with an empty Pat. The conditions were perfect. An 8-12kt easterly all day with conditions tending toward the top of A rig. The results show just how close the racing was. No one knew who was on the podium until the results were tallied. Peter Turcich was fast out of the blocks but struggled later in the day. Once Tony and Johan stopped taking each other out on the start line they managed to string together some good results to edge out Peter for the podium. Other honourable mentions go to John Storer, Chris Mathews, Chris Chatfield and Wayne Sheffield who managed some great results during the day. However, it was again Simon who took out the day with consistent placings at the front of the fleet. Thanks to Danny and Tim for sitting out the racing and doing an excellent race management job.

Due to low water levels at the Pat, the DF95 round tomorrow (14/6) will be moved to Harts Mill starting at 10:30am.

With the Pat again drained due to upcoming weather, we headed down to Harts Mill for this week’s M round. We started with B rigs and it looked like we might need to go to C. However, the wind faded just as Peter decided to change down from his A and we all ended up on A rigs. The day’s result was predictable with Simon and Brett in a close tussle for top spot closely followed by Paul. Brett eventually prevailed with a bit more consistency. Neil did well with the old Fuzzy Logic, at one point looking like he might pick up a win. Tim Arland was brave to go with a C early and it paid off for a win as a rain squall came down. It was a great day and well worth the effort to travel to the Port. We now go into a 2 month break for Ms & IOMs. There are 3 scheduled DF95 events to keep us going in the meantime.

The DF95 club round today was sailed in perfect A rig conditions. The rain held off just enough to allow 9 races in a short session before lunch. Simon, Neil & Danny were quick out of the blocks and fought it out for the podium. Tim Arland showed good form to be consistently at the front and grab a win. Tim Paynter with his new NJS sails also got a bullet. Thanks to Peter Turcich for taking on the RO duties.
