On a brisk Thursday evening at Woodys, the Generals delivered a performance that locked in their place in the upcoming Grand Final. With a 7-3 victory over the Warriors in the final round of the Elite Inline Hockey League Invitational Elite League regular season, the Generals closed out their four-game schedule with a surge of confidence and offensive firepower.

The contest started at a frenetic pace. Just two minutes in, Sam Wood set the tone for the Generals with a slick unassisted tally, putting his side up 1-0. The Warriors struck back through Samuel Webster, thanks to a sharp feed from Nick Fall, knotting the game at one. What followed was a rollercoaster first quarter, with both squads trading blows. John Kelly, who turned in a performance to remember, scored twice for the Generals, offset by a pair from the Warriors’ Sam Fall—who capitalized on assists from Nathaniel Mciliwain. Fittingly, Kelly finished off the period with a dramatic equalizer, his second of the frame, on a beautifully constructed play with Sam and Max Wood. Heading into the break, the teams were deadlocked 3-3, and the sense of urgency was palpable.

But the second quarter belonged entirely to the Generals. John Kelly wasted no time completing his hat trick, again set up by the dynamic Wood duo. Cody Tomes-Park extended the lead to 5-3 on the power play, showing off the Generals’ ability to make opponents pay for mistakes. From there, the floodgates opened. Max Wood and Tomes-Park each added markers in the closing seconds, pushing the contest out of reach and capping off a four-goal unanswered run that left the Warriors reeling.

Statistically, the Generals were dominant, outshooting the Warriors 46-34 and turning sustained offensive pressure into goals. Goaltender Jaden Forsman was a steadying force, turning aside 31 of 34 shots for a .912 save percentage, holding the Warriors off the board in the second half and earning the win. On the other side, Dan Toohey faced a barrage, making 39 saves but ultimately yielding seven goals as the Generals’ attack proved relentless.

With this victory, the Generals finish their regular season campaign at 2-2, good for second in the standings with 4 points and a +2 goal differential. The Warriors, meanwhile, end at 1-3, their playoff.

As the dust settles on the regular season, the Generals turn their focus to the Grand Final, scheduled at 6:50pm on 3 September.

With the Tridents holding top spot at 3-1, the stage is set for a dramatic Grand Final. The Generals’ late-season surge has given them momentum, confidence, and belief. For fans of the Elite Inline Hockey League, the promise of a high-octane game is all but assured.
